There are plenty of unique flower girl ideas that will look amazing, help you stick to your budget and inject a bit of fun into the day!
Playing a supporting role to the leading lady can put a lot of pressure on any pre-schooler. Your gorgeous little flower girl might not be the best person to be trusted with an expensive bouquet or a basket of petals that might not make it to the end of the aisle. Because of their young age and playful innocence, flower girls can often be unpredictable.
It's important that your wedding day runs smoothly and that it's fun for your flower girl too! We have detailed some innovative and unique flower girl ideas to help them enjoy themselves and live up to their affectionately given title.
Here are seven unique flower girl ideas we LOVE:
Dainty Posies
Little children generally cannot manage anything more than a small posy of flowers to hold and some may not even be able to manage that. So, if considering spending money on flowers to match your bouquet, it may not be wise. A few simple stems of baby's breath or forget-me-nots tied in a posy are inexpensive and will look just as cute. The chances are they will be discarded and trampled on sooner than you think.
Floral Crowns
Currently very popular with girls of all ages, these crowning glories look absolutely gorgeous and make any flower girl feel special. They can be made simply as a daisy chain, or from roses and carnations into a more elaborate halo. When strengthened with wire, they are quite robust and should survive the ceremony quite well.
Floral Feet
For the youngest of the flower girls, the temptation to fiddle with the flowers will be too strong to resist. To keep the flowers out of site, think about gluing them to their shoes, where they are out of their hands and soon forgotten.
Floral Wristlets
Select a few small flowers and glue them to a ribbon with floral glue. Once tied around the little girls' wrists, they will forget they are there so the flowers will stay intact for the rest of the day.
Playful Wands
There's nothing more joyful than flower girls skipping down the aisle, bearing wands adorned with beautiful blooms and trailing ribbons that flutter in the breeze. Wands are a playful touch that will give any little girl enjoyment. Find out how to make your own flower wands here.
Artificial Flowers
Artificial flowers made from silk, organza, cotton or paper are a very practical and low maintenance way to adorn flower girls' dresses or hair. They look lovely when sewn in a cluster to a sash and positioned at the back of the dress. A delicate crown can also be made by sewing artificial roses to a satin ribbon and tied around the flower girls' heads.
Floral Purse
For older flower girls who don't want to be too cutesy, a small purse can be embellished with flowers to match the bridal bouquet. Alternately, create a designer handbag by completely covering a purse with a particular flower in one shade.
