Loved up couple Nathan and Teegan had a relaxed autumn-country style wedding in the beautiful grounds of Gledswood Homestead and Winery. Despite a miss-hap with the wedding rings - they left them at home and ended up borrowing rings from their guests - the day was everything the pair could have hoped for. All in all the food was delicious, weather superb and the bridal party looked gorgeous - with the cutest flower girls and pageboys to boot.

How we met…
We met through mutual friends. We had met a few times previously and I always thought he was very cute and extremely funny; however, he was working overseas at the time so it wasn’t until a few years later that we got together.
We knew it was love…
I think we both knew pretty early on. We just clicked from the start. He makes me laugh and smile like no one else. I think I knew it was love when I stayed at his place one night and he got up at 6am to grab me a bacon and egg roll and a coffee while I slept in. Now that’s love!
The engagement…
He took me to Thailand for my birthday and he proposed while we were there. We also went there for our Honeymoon. It is now a very special place for both of us.

Our dream wedding…
I really wanted a relaxed wedding that was fun and not too structured. Given it was a May wedding I wanted an autumn-country theme.
Ceremony location…
At Gledswood Homestead and Winery in Catherine Fields.
Our photographer…
Our photographer was Guy Davies. He is just amazing and knew exactly what style I wanted. We were all so happy on the day and he captured it all perfectly.
Reception location…
It was all at the same venue, which was great because we didn’t have to travel on the day.
Pre-wedding celebrations…
Nathan had his bucks in Bali with 10 of his closest friends and I had my hens in Sydney. For my hens we did a black and gold Hollywood theme. We did canapés and Champagne at the hotel before going out and celebrating.
The bridal party…
We had four each. I had my sister as my Maid-of-Honour, my sister-in-law as a bridesmaid and my two best friends of 20+ years. Nathan had his four best friends of 20+ years in the bridal party.
The bridesmaids wore Adrianna Papell. I knew I wanted them in her gowns before I even found my own dress! The flower girls wore tutus with fur jackets and pearl cat ears. The cat ears were a random, last minute shopping choice but I loved them – they made the girls look even more adorable on the day (if possible!)
The groomsmen wore their own suits. We wanted them all in blue but slightly different and unique, they had pocket-handkerchiefs made from the girl’s bridesmaid dresses to bring it all together. The pageboys were handsome in Bardot Junior.
The groom wore…
A Dom Bagnato suit.
The gown…
I bought my gown from Regal Bridal. It was custom made and nothing like what I set out to buy. I specifically said I would never wear a strapless puffy gown however I ended up with exactly that. Once I tried it on I just couldn’t take it off. I loved how I felt in it. I was so unsure about it for so long because it’s not what I pictured but I’m so happy I choose this dress – I felt like such a bride on my wedding day. I will never have another opportunity to wear a dress like that in my life! It shows up so amazingly in photos, it’s everything I ever wanted! I’m so lucky. I absolutely loved it!
For my shoes I wore blue Badgley Mischka heels, which was my something blue.
The flowers…
Roses, roses and roses for my bouquet! The flower girls had miniature bouquets that were the same as mine. The bridesmaids had white bouquets with a mix of white roses and white David Austin roses and Dusty Miller.
Reception styling…
The reception was in a barn on the estate. We had fairy lights hanging from the tin roof to make it look more romantic. We had 12 tables in total, six had 80cm candelabra with a floral wreath around the base with a mix of coloured roses and David Austins and Dusty Miller (same as my bouquet and the bridesmaids’). We added some maroon berries to compliment the Maid-of-Honour’s dress and the season.
The other six tables had a high-top vase with a large bouquet. Each table had the same flowers, which also draped over the side with scattered tea lights on the table. We had vases with the same flowers all around the Country Room. I wanted guests to walk in and see flowers high, flowers low and basically flowers everywhere with scattered candles – to give it a romantic feel.
The menu…
Prior to heading into the reception we had a variety of canapes served to guests. For the reception we had a sit down meal with an alternate drop. For entrée, we had roast pumpkin, spinach and feta quiche with a balsamic glaze; and chicken and mushroom pastry pockets with chive beurre blanc.
For main we had fillet of beef with a three mustard sauce and a kumara mash. We also had chicken breast stuffed with pumpkin, feta and sundried tomatoes, served with garlic mash and chefs greens. For dessert we had a lemon and lime tart and a chocolate fudge pudding with chocolate sauce and cream. We also served the wedding cake/cheese on breadboards with a champagne chicken liver pâté.
The bomboniere…
As homage to my family heritage our wedding favours were Loza, a colourless natural brandy distilled from fermented crushed grapes. Not for the faint hearted! In addition to the Loza we also gave each guest a packet of seeds so they could “Let Love Grow”. My mum handmade the envelopes from vintage craft paper and each envelope contained a favourite flower of mine, which included roses, lilies and hydrangeas. We custom ordered a stamp for the envelopes that read ‘Teegan & Nathan 7 May 2016 – Let Love Grow’.
Memorable moments…
I forgot the rings! I had so much going on that morning I completely forgot to pack them – we had to borrow rings from family for the ceremony. The ring I placed on Nathan’s finger read Sharon. Funny now, but distressing then. I guess this is why we normally leave it to the Best Man to bring the rings.
Our wedding soundtrack…
When I walked down the aisle we had a live band. They sang an acoustic version of ‘Love Me Like You Do’ by Ellie Goulding. It was amazing! When we were signing the marriage certificate they sang ‘Your Mess Is Mine’ by Vance Joy and then when Nathan and I walked down the aisle together they sang Hey Ho by the Lumineers. We love this song – it’s fun and uplifting.
Our first dance was to ‘At Last’ by Etta James and the second dance, inviting the bridal party and parents was ‘Love Is In The Air’, which created a great ambiance and got everyone up. I wanted it to have the same effect as in Strictly Ballroom – one of my favourite movies!

Our Honeymoon…
We went to Thailand and stayed at the Naka Phuket in a private villa, it was beautiful.
Future plans…
Continue to travel, buy a bigger house, have children and hopefully retire by 50 somewhere on the beach.
In 40 years we hope to…
Be retired and travel to countries we have not yet visited!
How to enjoy the…
Engagement
Take some time to enjoy the ‘just engaged period’, before you start planning. This is a once in a lifetime event so enjoy every minute of it.
Planning
Don’t sweat the small stuff. You can get consumed in trivial details that really don’t matter. Your guests won’t even notice how many tea lights you have on the table even if you spend hours upon hours deciding.
The wedding day…
Get plenty of sleep the night before, don’t let your bridesmaid organise a big night! Make sure all items that you require to be taken to the venue are packed the night before and ready to go, so you don’t forget anything – including the rings.
