Australian couples are truly blessed to have so many stunning destinations perfect for a wedding celebration. If you are going to tie the knot this year or next and haven’t decided on where to do so, here is a list of 6 perfectly picturesque Australian wedding destinations. While the day is all about you and your life partner, it is special to choose a destination that resonates with you, so think deeply about each of these choices. Now let’s look at some choices!
1. Gold Coast, Queensland...
The Gold Coast is known for a number of reasons as it is the location for many international and local events. It is also a perfect wedding destination as your guests can enjoy that signature warm Queensland weather alongside the cooler comforts that come with the region’s sea breeze. There are so many places along the Gold Coast where you can say ‘I do’. For instance, you may opt to go for something luxurious like the JW Marriott Gold Coast, or you might prefer to get married right on the water in the sand. Be sure to choose an area of the Gold Coast that speaks to you and your partner, and then decide what sort of format you would prefer for your nuptials, whether you’re looking for formal black-tie, casual beach vibes, or something in between. There are also a range of Gold Coast accommodation options available for all styles of wedding and engagement celebrations, so taking some time to shop around for the perfect venue is definitely worthwhile.
2. The Daintree, Queensland...
If you want to get married in an Australian winter, then you cannot go past the Daintree Rainforest and the surrounding Daintree region in Cairns. The tropical rainforest’s stunningly ferny foliage is the perfect backdrop for wedding photos. We wouldn’t recommend Cairns any other time other than winter as you don’t want to be sweating off your make-up and have your hair turn into a living entity in its own right with that humid tropical air. It’s quite simple to get a permit to get married in the Daintree too, and there is fabulous accommodation at all price points nearby.
3. Byron Bay, New South Wales...
Byron Bay needs no introduction as it has captured the hearts of people from all over the world. There are some really funky bars and restaurants where you can have a Bohemian style wedding, or you might even prefer to have your ceremony on the beach itself. The Farm at Byron Bay is another very popular wedding destination, and the Farm itself has so many locations where you could get married. We love The Farm’s Macadamia Orchard in particular, but you may very well prefer to prepare your ceremony somewhere else on this large and captivating property.
4. Mornington Peninsula, Victoria...
There are so many parts of Victoria that are really unique and offer a perfect wedding destination. Of all the many spots that Victoria has to offer, however, its Mornington Peninsula is probably the most diverse. The Peninsula offers a beach location, great restaurants and cafes nearby, and fabulous accommodation in every direction. It’s also very close to Melbourne, so if you had attendees who lived in Melbourne or wanted to have your rehearsal dinner closer to the city of Melbourne – this is absolutely possible. You could even organise a little boat party with enough planning in order to really take advantage of the region’s waterside location.
5. Hobart, Tasmania...
Tasmania is an absolutely stunning wedding location, and we believe it’s a great option if you had your heart set on a New Zealand wedding but may not have the time to organise the logistics of an international destination wedding. Sandy Bay is a fantastic suburb of Hobart that is close to the water and all the city landmarks, as well as holiday accommodation, ranging from hotels to short-term rental properties. You can find some fabulous places to have your reception or rehearsal dinner, including meals on boats that overlook the bay. It’s also worth noting that Hobart is a city with an incredibly rich events calendar, as well as plenty of cultural attractions that you can visit year-round. If you choose to have your wedding in Hobart at a time that coincides with regional events, your guests will also likely appreciate the holiday that they can have before or after your big day.
6. Glenelg, South Australia...
Glenelg is one of Australia’s most iconic beaches, so it most likely won’t need an introduction for most. In fact, many may know of Glenelg because of all the five-star hotels located in this area alone, but there is more to the region that meets the eye too. Like the Gold Coast, Glenelg is a highly popular destination for coastal weddings as well. The high demand for beachside weddings in Glenelg has resulted in the formation of a myriad of services that cater to the region’s booming industry, appealing to both local South Australian couples as well as couples all over the country. For example, you can actually book a horse and chariot to take you to the altar or to your wedding reception. Alongside this, there are so many places where you can snap some idyllic wedding photos too.
Wherever you choose to tie the knot will forever become a special destination, so choose this spot wisely and then start preparing for the best day of your life. The destinations we’ve outlined above are just a handful of all the great wedding destinations that are available in Australia.
