This week, we're telling the story behind the story of Natalie & Matt's beautiful wedding, as seen on A Current Affair on Monday night. Today, we're delighted to share with you a sneak peek first look at their wedding video, some never-before-seen photos and we're chatting with wedding photographer and videographer Clarissa Lum of Clarzzique Photography, who provided the photography and videography for Natalie's Wedding.
1. Why did you want to get involved with Natalie's Wedding?
We were deeply touched by ACA's cover of Natalie's story and when we saw Modern Wedding's post on Facebook, we HAD to be a part of it. What touched us the most was Matthew's ongoing love and support for Natalie and Cancer won't stop him from loving her, instead he will battle through it with her. Working in the wedding industry lets us in to many stories and perspectives on Love but Natalie's story was unique. A couple with such a love story deserves their "Happily ever after" and we just wanted to help make that dream come true!
2. What influences did you have in the way that you approached the photography and videography for the day?
Our style of photography/videography is candid, so that was our approach on the day. We love being able to capture moments where our couples didn't know we were there for, until they see the final photos/video. We wanted to capture the day as it happens and that is how every wedding day is unique, because of the couple and their family & friends.
3. What was your hope for the outcome?
Our biggest goal for the day was for Natalie to get her dream wedding and we hoped to capture all the smiles and happy tears. We hope that they can relive their special day through the photos and videos in many years to come. We started on the wedding day knowing of the many surprises planned for them and we had to capture every minute of it as best as we can.
For most people, this is only a once in lifetime event, so the documentation of the day had to be perfect, and we wanted to provide no less for Natalie and Matthew."¨ At the end of it all, for us and surely for all other vendors as well, we hoped that our contribution to Natalie's dream wedding will be a source of motivation and hope for Natalie's battle.
4. What was your favourite moment on the day?
It was very hard to single out one favourite moment for this day as there were so many surprises that kept happening throughout the day which, most of which very touching to witness. However a few of the favourites would be when Natalie came out of her Villa and saw the horse and carriage, her face lit up as she thought the day could not get any better and it did. We can tell that was truly a special moment for Natalie and we remember her saying that "this is definitely a dream come true!" We also loved seeing Natalie walk down the aisle in the chapel with smiles all round, she looked so beautiful and so happy, then we looked over at Matt and his face just said it all. This was the best day of his life, this is the best choice he has ever made and Natalie is definitely the one. We felt their joy and excitement when the celebrant announced they were now Husband and Wife. That was definitely a very special moment from the day.
We loved Matt's words from the day, when we talked to him and also his speech at the reception, everything revolved around his wife-to-be and we can feel the purity of his words as he struggled to say them without tearing up. At one moment Matt said "... when you were diagnosed with cancer you gave me the option to leave...but since I met you and the time we spent together, there was never an option for me but to be with you." They are so perfect together and we are so happy for these two to have finally tied the knot!
Thank you so much to Modern Wedding for giving us the great pleasure of being part of Natalie & Matthew's wedding day! It is definitely the best wedding to start our year off with and one that we will learn from and cherish forever in both or profession and relationships with loved ones.
