The Meeting...
We met through friends in 2007 while we were enjoying the seafood festival. Alex was living in Goondiwindi at the time so we decided to try a long distance relationship and it worked out!!
Love...
After we did long distance for a year and we made it work, I guess we both knew we were meant for each other! We have our seven year anniversary this year!
The Proposal...
I have a family beach house at the Gold Coast so Alex thought it would be nice to propose during the Easter holidays at the beach while my friends and family were around. We went for a walk to Elephant Rock at Currumbin and he was acting a little strange when he saw there was a group of people up at the look out, but decided to take me up anyway - it didn't take long for the group to leave and he got down on one knee and produced a box with my beautiful ring in it!
Wedding Style...
Our vision for the day was to transform the marquee into an enchanted forest which came to life! It was truly amazing! There was a very ethereal and romantic feel to the day with the colour scheme being blush. The flowers and decorations did all the talking!
Ceremony Venue...
Holy Trinity Anglican Church, Fortitude Valley
Reception Venue...
My parent's house.
Pre-wedding Celebrations...
I had high tea at The Shingle Inn with my mum, bridesmaids and grandmothers – a place I was taken to when I was a little girl. We also had a rehearsal dinner at Cloudland with our bridal party and families.
The Dress...
The dress code for the wedding was 'romantic black tie' so I decided to dress the part also!! I wore a three tiered halter neck gown in blush pink. It was romantic, ethereal and elegant. Darb Couture designed and made the dress.
Bridesmaids...
The bridesmaids wore a one-shoulder long ombre pink chiffon dress. The flower girls were a 'mini me' in soft two tiered pink dresses. All the pink colours tied in perfectly.
Groom + Groomsmen...
They wore a James Bond inspired tuxedo! We wanted something a little different so went with a navy tux with black lapels which were made by Black Label Suits.
The Flowers...
The bridesmaids bouquets were roses that were also ombre to match their dresses, starting with dark pink to a very soft pink. My bouquet was wild and was made up of the most amazing peonies and stephanotis.
Wedding Decorations...
Entrance – the driveway was covered in green astro turf with two hanging swings that were covered in flowers for guests to have photos taken when they arrived. The other two arbors had hanging roses and tree branches from them and as you got to the end of the driveway we had an old rusty gate with A & K on it that was half opened for them to enter.
Marquee/tables – the entrance to the marquee was a pink chiffon curtain that everyone walked through and the floor was then covered in leaves my uncle had collected from Toowoomba. The main bridal table had a flower chandelier hanging from the ceiling and then covered in little vases of flowers and candles. The table numbers were wood slices that we burnt the number into. The eight other long tables had a big bark box in the middle with a wild/long floral arrangement and on either side were little vases that covered the whole table! We had beige table cloths and blush pink serviettes. The name tags were in the same watercolour as my invitations and were attached to a brown feather. We had brown bentwood chairs.
The back wall was covered in astro turf and had hanging baskets full of ferns and peonies. We then had the dessert bar which was made out of wooden pallets and tree stumps covered in ferns and lots of sweets!
On the Menu...
It was a black tie sit down dinner.
Entrée was chicken and chorizo paella followed by an alternate drop of eye fillet and lamb shoulder. There was then a whole dessert bar for sweets.
Wedding Bomboniere...
All the girls were given a bottle of nail polish in different shades of pink with a customised A & K sticker and the date.
Memorable Moments...
The whole day was so special! We just loved being able to celebrate with our closest family and friends. It was something we will always cherish. We had the best time and want to do it all again!
Wedding Photography...
We liked the feel of Bec’s work. Her style was quite natural and captured those moments when you aren’t looking! We are very happy with our pictures – Bec really captured the day and night exactly how it was! They are all quite natural and show off every little detail. She did a great job!
Wedding Songs...
We had an acoustic guitar singer while the guests were having champagne and canapes and then we had a three piece band for the marquee.
Our first dance was a bit of a mix – we started with Etta James At Last then we mixed it up a bit and went with Hall & Oats You make my dreams come true. Then that started the dancing!
Honeymoon...
We traveled to the Cook Islands - it was beautiful! We went to two different islands including Aitutaki and stayed in an over water bungalow - it was amazing!
After the Wedding...
Where do you begin! The near future we would like to buy a dog, renovate our house and start a family – all very exciting!
