E L L E & T Y S O N
All weddings are unique, but one thing they all have in common is that they are the happiest day of a couple's life. Elle and Tyson's Sydney Wedding was no exception. The day was shot perfectly by Alex Carlyle Photography, who captured every loving glance, giddy laugh and genuine smile in their photos. It's clear that Elle and Tyson are one happy couple. We wish them all the happiness in the world for years to come!
F R O M T H E B R I D E . . .
We first met...
During our first year of uni at a friend’s birthday party, she now calls herself cupid.
I knew it was love...
After we’d been dating for about 18 months we went backpacking around Asia for 7 weeks. We didn’t hate each other at the end so I figured he was the one.
The proposal...
Tyson proposed at the lighthouse in Byron Bay, where he grew up. He had organised the ring himself and completely surprised me.
Photographer...
Alex was a friend of a friend; we loved her photos and felt really at ease when we meet up with her so we went with her straight away. We didn’t even meet with any other photographers!
What do you love about your wedding photos?
They capture how much fun we had on the day and the spectacular location of our wedding.
Wedding style...
We were keen to have a fun, intimate wedding that really showed off the city we love.
We were married at...
Church by the Bridge, Kirribilli.
And celebrated at...
Aqua Dining in Milsons Point.
Bridal party...
We had 4 each, 7 were friends and the best man was Tyson’s brother.
The dress...
My gown came from Jennifer Regan in Newtown. It was Georgette silk and a very romantic, straight style.
Flowers...
The flowers were all white hydrangeas, I love classic bouquets of all one flower.
Reception style...
We tried to let the view take centre stage but also had vases of white flowers and hundreds of votive candles that my mum handmade!
On the menu...
Guests had a choice of three entrees and three mains which was an impressive feature of Aqua Dining’s wedding package. The choices were mixed seafood, pumpkin tortelli or quail for entrée and beef, salmon or emu for main.
Bombonniere...
My mum made 90 tin candles for each guest.
Memorable moments...
During our photo session we had a lot of fun mucking around, they hoisted me into a tree, we took jump photos and lots of pouting shots. I wasn’t expecting the photos to be so much fun but they were!
Wedding soundtrack...
We had the Cherie Lucas Trio providing live music and they did a great job filling the dancefloor. Our first dance was to their rendition of Unforgettable by Nat King Cole.
The future...
This is the hardest question so far. To enjoy being happily married.
In 40 years you hope to…
Be even happier and more in love than we were on our wedding day.
Words of advice for the newly engaged...
We were only engaged for 7 months but try to get over the awkwardness of using the word fiancé as quickly as possible. Don’t get overwhelmed by the options available. Take recommendations from friends and family and once you have found someone/something you like stop shopping around. Even if there is something better you won’t know if you stop looking!
Wedding day tips...
I was stressed about everything that could go wrong. So I told myself a successful wedding is one where you end up married. I tried to take anything other than that as a bonus.
