Homemade lotions are a satisfying, green and thrifty way to pamper yourself. When you feel the need to unwind and indulge, but you don’t have time to get to the salon or spa, all you need to do is open the kitchen cupboard and whip up a treatment. Your DIY beauty bliss awaits!
Fizzy Bath Salts
- 3 tablespoons sea salt
- 3 tablespoons baking soda
- 1 teaspoon citric acid
- Essential oils approximately 8 drops
- A small jar
- Lavender flowers (optional)
Mix together sea salt, baking soda, citric acid and essential oil in a jar. Gently shake to mix the ingredients. Once mixed, add some lavender flowers or rose petals to make the mixture look more interesting. Add to a bath of running water.
Skin Moisturising Oil
- 3 tablespoons sea salt
- 3 tablespoons baking soda

The inclusion of coconut and olive oil is to enrich an oil blend suitable for dry skin. For a lighter oil, you can omit them and use almond oil only.
Honey + Rosemary Hair Treatment
- ¼ cup honey
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 4 drops rosemary oil
Place all ingredients into a screw top jar and shake well. Apply to towel-dried hair and work the mixture through thoroughly. Cover the hair with plastic wrap or a shower cap before wrapping with a warm towel. Leave on for 30 minutes. Shampoo and let the hair dry naturally.
