You want your wedding to be perfect and the first step is to choose the right date. You don’t want to set a wedding date and then find out that key people cannot attend. So we have done the research for you to help you avoid the less desirable dates.
Wedding dates to avoid in 2017 and 2018 include:
Unlucky Days
Beware The Ides of March when Julius Caesar was assassinated. William Shakespeare made this date famous as the most superstitiously unlucky date. It falls on Wednesday 15th March 2017 and Thursday 15th March 2018.
Friday the Thirteenth has long had a reputation as unlucky so you may want to avoid 13th January 2017, 13th October 2017, 13th April 2018 and 13th July 2018.
Halloween is on Tuesday 31st October 2017 and Wednesday 31st October 2018 so avoid those dates unless you want to have a Halloween themed wedding.
April Fool’s day is supposed to be unlucky – at least before 12noon so take care if you want to marry in the morning of Saturday 1st April 2017 or Sunday 1st April 2018, especially if you have friends who are pranksters!
Special Days
Easter is 14th – 17th April 2017 and 30th March – 2nd April in 2018.
Mother’s Day is Sunday 14th May 2017 and Sunday 13th May 2018.
Father’s Day is Sunday 3rd September 2017 and Sunday 2nd September 2018.
Major Sporting Events
If you want the groom and his friends to be most attentive at your wedding then best avoid clashing with major sporting events.
AFL Grand Final is 30th September 2017 and 29th September 2018.
NRL Grand Final is 1st October 2017 and 30th September 2018.
The Melbourne Cup is 7th November 2017 and 6th November 2018.
The Winter Olympics in South Korea is from 9th February to 25th February 2018.
The Commonwealth Games is on at the Gold Coast from 4th April 2018 to 15th April 2018.
