We joined fashionistas, celebrities, designers and the families of breast cancer survivors last night at Runway for Research - Fashion Targets Breast Cancer's first ever runway show, which wrapped up the week at Mercedes Benz Sydney Fashion Festival.
A parade of this year's black and white collection by designers such as Metalicus, Seafolly, Cotton On, Seduce, Cue, Secrets Shhh and Peeptoe Shoes was followed by the Designer Collection - featuring one-off pink gowns created by Australia's Top Fashion Designers - including Akira, Bianca Spender, Carla Zampatti, Easton Pearson, Kirrily Johnston, Lisa Ho and Trelise Cooper - for Modern Wedding's Spring "The Pink Issue" (on sale September 16th).
These breathtaking couture creations were joined by black, white and silver gowns from some of Australia's finest bridal designers, like Karen Willis Holmes, Wendy Makin, Lora Eliss, Fiorenza, Rhonda Hemmingway, Mira Mandić, Emoda Couture, Joe Halabi, Brionyleigh Bridal, Mim Design and Mark Holt. Models, celebrities and breast cancer survivors walked the runway at Sydney Town Hall in a captivating catwalk show for a cause. The audience was also treated to a performance by Paris Wells and a dance display by Ev&Bow.
A flowergirl, bride (in a Lora Eliss gown) and groom closed the show, with a finale of the designer gowns drawing riotous applause from the enthusiastic crowd.
With VIP wristbands in our hot little hands, we joined the National Breast Cancer Foundation crew, celebrity ambassadors and designers for a glass of celebratory bubbly in the Mercedes Benz Fashion Hub. "It was such an amazing night," said Editor-in-Chief Victoria Black. "The Fashion Targets Breast Cancer range this year is stunning!! Seeing all our stunning couture pink creations come to life on the runway was almost dreamlike! We're so proud to be a Gold Partner of the National Breast Cancer Foundation and we look forward to sharing our incredible "Pink Issue" with everyone in September."
So Modettes - will you be grabbing one of the Fashion Targets Breast Cancer designs? A minimum of 25% of the purchase price goes towards funding breast cancer research in young women. What a wonderful excuse to go shopping!
Enjoy!
