It's getting warmer (well it should be!) and Christmas is literally just around the corner, parties are in full swing and the silly season is upon us. People are having to pull out their event planning skills and put on fancy do's - you know what that is like?
I have a few tips to help you pull off a reception that will impress your guests and leave them talking about your 'do' for years to come.
While they are waiting
Make sure your guests don't sit around bored, wondering what to do with themselves, while you and your bridal party and off having your photos taken. Many venues can arrange to host a little pre-dinner drinks and jazz session on the lawn for a couple of hours while they wait. Your guests can get to know each other, relax a little and we promise they will appreciate it!
Centrepieces
You want to make a big impact without costing the earth - a little secret is to go up. Tall centrepieces look fabulous and will add height and grandeur to your reception room. We love high vases, tall candelabras, floral branches such as cherry blossom or even feathers. For extra impact you can add some candles, fairy lights - anything to brighten up the table further.
Lanterns/lighting
Simple rice paper lanterns are so affordable and so effective when decorating an outdoor garden ceremony, a marquee reception or even a dance floor. They add atmosphere in the afternoon and twinkle softly during the night. You can find a wide selection of Lanterns at the Modern Wedding Shop.
Lighting is a biggy in the decorating world. You can create a soft moody atmosphere or an exciting vibrant and fun atmosphere with a click of a switch... or a few switches. Ask your venue what lighting solutions they offer.
Candy tables
Candy tables continue to be favourites and we are finding they are only growing in popularity. They are not only great fun for the guests, they look fabulous and are another room decoration.
Entertainment
Think hard about your entertainment. Nothing creates a triumphant wedding reception more than incredible entertainment so that everyone relaxes and has fun. Whatever your theme, create an atmosphere that suits your wedding celebrations with perfectly planned music. Start planning your music today with Modern Wedding's Music Playlist Tool. I hope these tips help you in your planning and give you a few ideas on how to wow your guests and plan a party of a lifetime!
Have a great weekend and please let us know your thoughts - are you finding your reception planning a breeze or are you like a fish out of water?
