P I E R R E & N E D
For Pierre and Ned an online meeting lead to many coffee and lunch dates with amazing wine, a destination engagement and the rest is history.
About Us...
Pierre and Ned met online, four months later they met and instantly knew that it was love. "From the moment we started chatting I knew that there was something different about this man for me. When we finished lunch and I saw Ned off, he kissed me goodbye and for the first time, my hunch was confirmed", says Pierre.
"We had been dating for a while when I looked over at him one night and saw his beautiful, bright smile; in that moment I realised that I had fallen for this guy. I couldn’t resist and told him that I loved him."
The Best Day...
"Both Ned and I are fairly traditional, it was important to me to ask Ned’s parents for their son’s hand in marriage", says Pierre. Working with Ned's brother worked in Pierre's favour and he asked permission on Christmas Day. "Probably the most nerve‐wracking moment in my life, but thankfully I received both their blessing. I think at this point Ned’s mom’s dreams of seeing equality for her son, became a step closer to reality. Sharyn has been very active in campaigning for marriage equality."
An Unforgettable Engagement...
When it came to proposing, Pierre wanted it to be the best day of Ned's life, somewhere exotic and unforgettable. With the help of Kate Elizabeth Proposal and Special Occassions, he planned to most amazing island picnic.
"In the April we went on ‘holidays’ to the Maldives when one morning at breakfast I told Ned that I had a fun day planned for us. We met the crew of the local Diving Centre at Centara Ras Fushi and went parasailing around the islands. We got on a private speedboat and started parasailing around the islands, but little did Ned know that we were heading to our own private island."
After landing on the island, the couple were met by the crew that worked behind the set up the island. "We were taken to a sand art sculpture that the crew especially made for us as a welcoming gift and we were shown to our picnic setting. The set up was intimate and we were spoilt with some champagne, fresh fruit and handcrafted delicatessens.
Kate had arranged for a small, beautiful treasure chest to be buried in the sand next to the picnic. When we opened the treasure chest we found an iPad that played a custom‐made sand art video that told our story, from the day we met up until that moment. When we finished watching the video I was down on bended knee asking him for his hand in marriage."
A Destination Wedding...
The couple have no set wedding plans yet, but hope to wed in either the Maldives or in South Africa. Pierre "can’t wait until I can call him my husband".
