What Flowers Do You Need?

Modern Wedding Posted: October 17, 2012

Flowers can burst out of every corner or can feature as several large focal points in key places.

Here is a list of floral arrangements that could feature at your wedding.

Bridal party

  •          Bridal bouquet
  •          Bride and bridesmaids' hair
  •          Bridesmaids' bouquets
  •          Flower girls' bouquet or basket and for little ones a pomander or corsage of flowers to wear on their wrists.
  •          Flower girls' hair
  •          Mothers' and grandmothers' corsages
  •          Groom's buttonhole
  •          Groomsmen's buttonholes
  •          Pageboy's buttonhole
  •          Fathers' and grandfathers' buttonholes.

Ceremony

Some locations may require extensive decoration, while a lush garden setting requires little. You could decorate your ceremony location with columns, flower-filled urns or beautifully trimmed topiary trees.

  •          Entrance - a main focal point.
  •          Pew ends - decorate at least every second pew.
  •          Altar - For an outdoor wedding, place large arrangements to demarcate the area where the bride, groom and celebrant will be standing.
  •          Aisle - You can create an aisle outdoors by sprinkling rose petals on the ground between the chairs.

Reception

In general, the flowers you choose for the reception will tone in with the general colour scheme of the wedding, but if you have cream or white bridal party flowers you might want to incorporate more colour into your reception arrangements.

  •          Entrance
  •          Head table
  •          Guest tables
  •          Buffet table and cake table
  •          Chairs
  •          Stage/podium and around the dance floor
