Located in The Entertainment Quarter in Moore Park, Urban Winery Sydney features a full functioning open winery, a cellar door, a wine bar, and an event space. It’s a place to enjoy and discover the very best of NSW wine and produce, including resident winemaker A.Retief wines that are handcrafted on-site by head winemaker Alex Retief.
Your guests can dine amongst the wine barrels in Sydney’s Eastern Suburbs, however, they’ll feel as though they have been transported to the vineyards of regional NSW. The event space can be hired exclusively or non-exclusively, ensuring that they can cater to groups of up to 250 people in an indoor and outdoor setting. The space is an actual winery, so your group will be surrounded by the wine barrels and equipment used to make the A.Retief wine label.
There is a commercial kitchen onsite where you can utilise one of the trusted catering partners or bring in your own chef to suit you and your guest's needs. And no need to stress about any of the details. You will be partnered with one of the friendly event team members to ensure the whole process is smooth and easy!

The owner Alex fell into winemaking in the mid-1990s whilst visiting his parents in the university summer break who had decided to plant grapes on their 250-hectare property. He studied Wine Science at Charles Sturt University and then became a trainee at University Vineyard under Greg Gallagher.
Alex worked on vintages in the Hunter Valley (NSW), Sonoma Valley (California) and Languedoc between 2002-2005 before being appointed as a winemaker at Chateau de Lagarde in Bordeaux in 2005 where he stayed for 2 years.
Returning to Australia, Alex created the A. Retief label in 2008 and drew on his favourite regions of NSW to create his wines.
