T E G A N & J A S O N
Accents of navy and blue stripes and "tying the knot" set the theme for this Hamptons wedding, held at Bells at Killcare.
Where it all began...
Tegan & Jason met through Claudia, Tegan's best friend and Jason's cousin over 7 years prior to dating. "We all use to hang out together every now and then. I would have never imagined he would be the man I marry!" Tegan says.
Until one day Tegan confessed to her best friend that her feelings for Jason had changed. "I confessed to Claudia that I wanted to pash her cousin! That night literally changed the rest of our lives. We instantly connected and by day 3 of our summer romance I knew I would marry him!".
A European Engagement...
Jason got down on one knee at the start of the couples European summer trip in June 2016. "Jason had certainly been acting so weird during airport bag scans and around the hotel safes. I thought something fishy was going on. One day we had a beautiful cabana on the beach in Hvar and Jason organised for the waiter to bring out the ring with a bottle of champagne and then he dropped to one knee!" Tegan says.
Coastal charm...
With a love of the ocean and a beachside engagement, it was only fitting that the couple said "I do" with a nautical, Hamptons themed day. With hints of navy and white stripes and small elements of "tying the knot" envisioned, Bells at Killcare fit the brief perfectly.
And the couple certainly didn't let a spot of rain dampen their special day, "the ceremony was intended to be held on the grounds at Bells at Killcare but unfortunately right as my guests were arriving... so did the rain! We ended up getting married under the driveway pergola of the Bells reception. But you would have never known and it ended up being absolutely perfect!".
Nude and navy...
Tegan had 4 close friends as her bridemaid's, all wearing beautiful nude gowns from The Reformation and in keeping with the navy theme of the day, Jason and his four groomsmen all wore handsome navy suits from Briggins Clothiers.
And the bride went for a Leah Da Gloria gown, "I don't really consider myself much of a fashionista but I saw a similar dress that Leah had designed and hand made and I knew that she had to make my wedding dress! She was amazing to work with and I still get compliments on my dress. I was so happy with it!" says Tegan.
Again, keeping in mind the navy accents, Tegan and her bridesmaids bouquets were "really earth greens, whites, nudes and blush tones to pick up the nude colour of the bridesmaids dresses and the nude underlay in my dress. These colours also looked beautiful alongside the navy suits".
Sharing between friends...
The menu for the day was designed for sharing, meaning that there had to be plenty of room in the middle of each table, influencing the couple and their florist/stylist Aisle of Eden's styling choices. Two long reception tables, cluster decorative bunches, rattan matts, crystal and silver vases plus white anf green flowers worked perfectly to ensure the tables seemed spacious and comfortable for guests.
"We had a sit down meal. Since Bells is a hatted Italian restaurant and Jason is Italian we were really excited about the quality of food and wanted everyone to experience as much of it as possible".
XO...
Tegan wanted to do something different for the bonbonniere, something that people could take home and keep, "for the boys we did personalised wedding shot glasses in a nice gift box and for the girls 'XO' shaped salt and pepper shakers.
The party...
What was the couples favourite moment from the day - the party of course! Being a wedding singer herself, Tegan was pedantic about the music aspects of the day, "We had the best live band and a good dance area and after the formalities of the reception I just wanted everyone to dance and boy did they dance!".
In the future...
After a tropical honeymoon in Tahiti, the couple will have their hands full with twins on the way in 2018 and hope to travel the world and watch their family grow in years to come.
Take it all in...
Tegan's advice for couples is simple... take it all in and remember what it's all about! It's amazing how many people come out of the woodworks to wish you well. It's a really important time to recognise every person. It really is such a lovely time" and "at the end of the day you want your wedding to be full of love and happiness. Don't sweat the small stuff!".
