Ivy and Bleu
Ivy & Bleu love every aspect of the event & wedding process from sewing the seeds in the planning stages, creating & putting together the overall styling of the day & ensuring the blooms in your hands, hair & on your table are just as divine as you are! Today, we spoke with Mandi, the Creative Director and Owner to see what her 2018 style looks like!
Modern Wedding: Tell us a little bit about yourself
Mandi: My name is Mandi & I am the creative director and owner of Ivy & Bleu Events. I absolutely love my job and getting to have creative outlet and participate in one of the biggest days in someones life keeps me happy on a daily basis. I love the colour grey, textural elements and chic chip cookies. Totally no walks on the beach here!
Modern Wedding: How did you get started as a stylist?
Mandi: I have been in the wedding industry for 6 years now and my baby Ivy & Bleu was born in 2015. I wanted to create a more boutique event offering covering florals, styling and planning to reduce the amount of suppliers our couples needed to engage and allow us to further control the style and creative element across the day. We found on some occasions someone would spend a good amount of money hiring a stylist only to have one of the elements ie. flowers fall short of expectations so for us being able to provide all of these services allows us more ability to ensure the day is amazing!
Modern Wedding: What colours and colour palette combinations do you love for next 12 months?
Mandi: Ohhhhh I still love a classic combination of white and greenery but any opportunity to get creative and play with colour and Im in! Im seeing lots of summery tones coming through think Flamingo pink, lemoncello yellow and citrusy orange!
Modern Wedding: What are your favourite new styling trends for 2018/2019?
Mandi: I love playing with texture and loving the soft chiffon table runners we have been playing with lately. Gone are the flat satin table runners (thank goodness) and bring in soft floating grey or dreamy blush pink. I think metallics are here to stay with gold cutlery, coppery taj cubes and gold mercury votives.
Modern Wedding: What are your five favourite styling elements to work with right now and why?
Mandi: Chiffon table runners, gold cutlery, big headed blooms like dahlia’s or columbian roses (even more if they're black) textured foliages like pitto or ruscus and ceramic anything!
Modern Wedding: What are your top 3 tips for brides wanting to create unique wedding style?
Mandi: Follow your own natural style - how is your house styled, what do you tend to wear. Create something thats “yours” and you’ll find it wont date or pass in trend.
Modern Wedding: If you were designing your own wedding, how would you style it?
Mandi: Eek this is my trickiest question - I know it would be super expensive and probably all white and would definitely feature a dress from Hayley Paige. I think it would be in a estate type venue thinking green grounds and a clear roof fairy lit marquee, wooden cross back chairs, dusty blue linens and pedestal bowls with overflowing white blooms #heaven
