Following a romantic proposal in Venice, Sophia and George fulfilled their dream of a modern-day Mediterranean wedding with the most magical celebration in Greece.
All I Want For Christmas Is You...
Sophia and George's love first started 10 years ago during the Chrismas holidays when Sophia came home from studying in Thessaloniki, Greece. Like a modern-day love story, the happy couple met at a nightclub! George spotted Sophia from across the room and decided to make the first move by starting a conversation. After enjoying the holidays getting to know each other and making memories, it wasn't until Sophia had to return to Thessaloniki that she realised it was love, and she could never leave George again.
The Floating City of Love...
During a romantic holiday to the floating city of love, aka Venice, George had planned a surprise gondola ride where he proceeded to get down on one knee and ask that magical question! "It was the most romantic moment of my life," Sophia tells us. Following on from the gondola ride, they couldn't contain their happiness and called all friends and family immediately to share the big news. Talk about a magical proposal!
Real-Life Modern Wedding...
From the onset, Sophia and George desired a modern wedding located near the calming sea, filled with elegant touches and refined details that exuded a heavenly aesthetic. Their stationery suite was a custom creation of a synthesis of sketched flowers with the personal touch of their very own logo. The stationary was a harmonious blend of blanket white letterpress and wax seal, combined with mocha tones and brought to life with dried flowers in a neutral palette.
The I Do's...
The ceremony took place in a modern Greek church decorated with breathtaking dried florals of neutral hues, matching Sophia's bouquet. The flowers looked spectacular against the sage green door, white steps, and pink and beige wall. Outside of the church was a table filled with stylish refreshments, gorgeous traditional fans, and more beautiful floral displays. The refreshments were there for the guests to enjoy before partaking in the heartwarming tradition of throwing rice over the newlyweds.
Meet Us At Mango Beach...
The reception was held at the glorious Mango Beach Bar, looking out towards the white sands and calming sea of Preveza. The beautiful bar was transformed into a breathtaking celebration space that oozed modern-day elegance and tropical desires. When first entering the romantic oasis, friends and family were welcomed with a variety of sweet treats, such as lollipops filled with vibrant flowers and exquisitely handcrafted biscuits tying in with their stationery set. Guests were wowed by the impressive seating board designed with large exotic fans matching with their tropical and luxurious styling.
Touch of Gold And Individuality...
Sophia and George decided to fill their table settings with unique and elegant personal touches. Tables were embellished with graceful handmade details, such as their personal logo hand-painted upon the linen table runners. Wooden hand-painted table numbers and porcelain napkin rings sketched with intricate flowers were also included. The menu cards consisted of fine paper fans, with delicate silk tassels which contributed to the luxurious feel, alongside the gold detailed tableware. The gorgeous table settings gained more of a romantic and stunning sensation by the onset of twinkling lights floating above, providing the feel of a starry night sky.
Ethereal Beauty...
"My wedding dress was exactly what I had always imagined for my wedding," the bride tells us. The A-line dress was embroidered with pearls, covered with soft lace, and featured stunning detail prominent on the shoulders. The ethereal tulle was combined with a romantic open back and an impressive tulle cape, which Sophia removed for the reception. Sophia styled the gown with an extraordinary updo hairstyle with a pearl headpiece braided seamlessly throughout. Her makeup consisted of a natural soft glam, with the main focus being on her beautiful warm-toned eyeshadow and a rosy nude lip. Sophia was the true definition of a glowing bride!
Planning Problems...
As if the uncertainty of 2020 didn't cause enough stress, the couple also had a cyclone to deal with! A few days before their big day, Cyclone Lanos whirled its way to Greece. A rare Mediterranean cyclone does not mix well with an outdoor event and would have made it impossible for the day to go ahead. Sophia and George, as well as their vendors, decided to be patient, not change the initial plans, and to wait. Fortunately for the happy couple and their guests, the sun was shining on an almost Grecian summer's day.
