Showpo power couple, Jane Lu and James Waldie, tied the knot in a magical, bohemian wedding ceremony in early October. Surrounded by their closest family and friends, Jane embodied ultimate bridal beauty in her Showpo wedding gown (which is now available for pre-order here, yay!) while saying "I do" to her partner in crime, Waldie.
Our Story Starts In Sweden...
Jane and Waldie's love story began just over 10 years ago. While on exchange in a small town in the south of Sweden, the pair crossed paths. Traces of romance began to blossom when Jane and Waldie went to the biggest festival of the year in Sweden and then spent the following 3 months exploring Europe together. "We were definitely pretty hooked by then, but when Waldie was there through my first business failure, and Showpo's almost failures, I knew he was definitely the one," says Jane.
Under The Moon...
Jane and Waldie's uber romantic proposal story totally has us swooning! The pair were holidaying in Noosa at Waldie's family home just before Christmas. One evening, they took a small boat disguised as a Venetian gondola out on the Noosa River for a serene dinner date. This was an inside joke for the couple as they had vacationed in Venice 2 years earlier and everyone thought Waldie was going to propose on the trip. "We were drinking champagne and eating our dinner and he leaned over and started telling me how much he loves me," recalls Jane, "So it was there, under a full moon on Noosa River that he proposed".
Bride Tribe...
Jane was joined on the big day by the ultimate girl squad made up of 7 of her closest friends! "On New Years Day, over champagne, I asked the girls to be part of my bride tribe," says Jane. The girls all wore stunning bridesmaids dresses from Showpo, each featuring a different style and tone of pink.
Bridal Beauty...
Jane also donned a fabulous Showpo gown for the big day! "I was lucky enough to be able to have the exact dress I wanted as I worked closely with our in-house designers at Showpo," says Jane. What's even better? The extraordinary dress that Jane wore is now available for brides-to-be to order here! Jane's wedding look also featured a romantic bouquet of dusty rose, toffee and vanilla roses with white Oriental poppies, delphiniums and orchards with dried floral accents. Simply heavenly!
Think Big And Have Fun...
The ceremony and reception were both held at Sergeants Mess in Mosman with the couple's closest friends and family. "We chose this venue to be close to the water, surrounded by greenery and because the views are absolutely stunning," shares Jane. The overall mood of the day perfectly reflected Jane and Waldie's approach to daily life: "Think big and have fun!" This vibe was definitely achieved through the modern bohemian vibe of the celebration!
Bohemian Wonderland...
The reception venue was transformed into a romantic, bohemian wonderland for the big day. Beautiful flower installations were scattered throughout the room to create a whimsical and vibrant style. Tables were dressed with natural tones and featured hints of dusty rose, gold and rattan accents. The venue was illuminated throughout the night by flickering pillar candles to accentuate the romantic ambiance of the celebration.
Shame Shots...
The newlyweds also managed to incorporate their cheeky sense of humour into the wedding favours. "Every Friday, we end our Showpo Team Meeting with shame shots for anyone who messed up during the week to keep everything lighthearted," shares Jane. So, to help guests find their seats at the reception, everyone was given their own shame shot, served in a personalised shot glass with their name and table numbers on them. "We also called out shame shots for fun during the reception for funny things that happened during the day, like my mum for wearing a white dress to our wedding!" laughs Jane.
Reception Turned Rock Concert...
One of the highlights from the big day was the impromptu musical performance by Waldie, his father and Jane! "Waldie jumped on stage with our amazing wedding band, Furnace And The Fundamentals, and rocked out on the guitar to Wonderwall," shares Jane, "His dad even jumped on the drums and I was up there with the tambourine!"
Time For A Holiday...
After a fabulous evening of celebrations, the newlyweds spent a week laying by the poolside at Qualia Resort in Hamilton Island. "We wanted a relaxing weekend away to reset after all the celebrations," says Jane. Now that Jane and Waldie have settled into their new lives as husband and wife, they have some words of wisdom to share with future brides and grooms! "During the planning process, have fun while still doing something that contributes to the wedding", shares Jane, "We took time out to do dance lessons which were really fun and helped us get ready for our first dance!" Ultimately, Jane urges every couple to take time with each other to take it all in during the wedding. "After all, your memories together is how the day lives on," she shares. Congratulations Jane and Waldie!
