S E M R A Y & N A D E R
For Semray and Nader their day was always going to be a family affair. After all, it was their family ties that kept the destined duo in each other's lives. Their special day was not only in honour of their love, but the love within their families.

The Meeting...
Once we were together we realised we had known each other our whole lives and our paths had crossed several times without us realising! My best friend and the grooms best friend are brother and sister so we had seen each other a few times at gatherings and parties. Nader has a brother with down syndrome and I was working in a school for children with disabilities a while back. One day when we were together and I met his brother, I realised he was one of my students all those years ago!
I knew it was love...
Straight away. It was a very strange “just right” feeling from our first date. Since then he hasn’t ceased to make me laugh and any man that makes it his mission to make you laugh definitely loves you!
The Proposal...
Nader took me to Turkey and during the sunrise prayers, he woke me up and proposed right opposite the blue mosque. It was absolutely breath taking!
Ceremony & Reception Venues...
Our ceremony was held outside of Doltone House Darling Island Wharf and our reception inside.
The Dress...
I bought my wedding gown from Brides By Francesca. It was an Italian lace strapless gown that had a hidden fishtail style underneath a layer of lace.
Bridesmaids & Groomsmen...
We had an endless amount of bridesmaids and groomsman! We had 7 of each with one flower girl. All of them were siblings, cousins and childhood friends. My bridesmaids all chose their own dresses with the only requirement being they had to choose a pastel colour and a knee length dress. We had a gorgeous rainbow of our nearest and dearest behind us.
Wedding Photography...
I had read several reviews about Seray's Photography and they were all absolutely positive. I rang to chat with her and she was so friendly, calm, funny and very welcoming. She also wanted to know about me and adapted her style to suit my needs. Being so young, I thought she would have a fresh take on photography and of course she was full of energy!
The photos's are so personal, she catered to our needs and was very flexible. The photos have that vintage twist to them and the most thing I love is that they were taken in our natural movements – she captured the most memorable and emotional moments without us even realising.
Wedding Style...
We always wanted to keep the wedding intimate and a reflection of our lives. Naders father passed away when he was younger and he was a huge part of his life. We wanted to incorporate as much of him as we could. We made our wedding date on his birthday so that we could always remember everything he has done for us. We went for a vintage pastel theme with lots of colour, lavender and twine!
We had hanging lavender and glass bulbs from the ceiling above the bridal table. We had white table cloths, white tiffany chairs and a white backdrop with fairy lights behind us. The splash of purple spread its way through the venue in mason jars I decorated myself with twine. They were filled with lavender and purple kale and sprinkled across the bridal table. We also had gorgeous white candelabras as centre pieces on each of the guest tables.
On the Menu...
Entree:
Mushroom and ricotta ravioli, spinach, pine nuts and truffle pecorino or Linguine pescatore, prawns, octopus, calamari, garlic, basil and white wine
Main:
Chicken with, creamed potato, asparagus and mushroom fricassee or slow cooked lamb shank, cannellini beans with truffle and spinac
Dessert:
Le Paddle Pop Berry of Love or La Creme De La Creme
Bomboniere...
We gave our guests little bottles with evil eyes inside them and a bag of dried lavender attached to make their houses smell nice!
Memorable Moments...
The most memorable moment for me was walking down the aisle and looking up to see my husband to be crying! It was exactly the reaction I had hoped for. Another great moment was Naders brother getting up on the dancefloor and dancing with us! I also LOVED the Arabic drummers and will never forget dancing along to their beat when we walked into the reception hall for a solid 20 minutes!
The Honeymoon...
The Intercontinental Fiji. Absolutely AMAZING!
The Future...
We are living in my childhood home a street away from my parents in Earlwood. Nader owns a boarding house for adults with mental disabilities and I hope one day we can become a husband and wife team running a nice family feel house together!
