Today's wedding shows how a wedding theme can be exactly what you want it to be. The couple's dream was an elegant wedding with a country feel that showed their personalities. This bride surprised herself by how creative she could be with her rustic DIY skills - injecting their personalities at every point... All the while retaining an air of elegance throughout the whole wedding. They named the wedding theme fusion 'rustic elegance.'
Natalie and Ryan's journey to wedded bliss started under the Eiffel Tower during a holiday in Paris, "It was one of the best days of my life and so romantic, afterwards we went to see the Moulin Rouge. It was just gorgeous the whole day and night." Natalie recalls.
Natalie and Ryan put their wedding plans into action when they returned home to Australia. One of their biggest wants for their wedding theme was to make it personal, so they decided on a theme of classical elegance with a rustic twist. "We went for black tie and even though it was very formal, it also felt extremely relaxed, personal and intimate."
The beautiful invitations and stationery tied in beautifully with their wedding theme. It was created by one of the bridesmaids and featured a custom designed Sullivan Crest, also seen on the cake.
"It was important to me that loved ones who had passed were remembered, so I wore my late grandmother's engagement ring and Ryan's late grandmother's necklace, which was wrapped around my bouquet."
Natalie and Ryan worked closely with their wedding florist to create a beautiful ceremony space around their wedding theme. The result was a stunning floral arch and aisle decorations featuring peasant feathers.
Natalie told us how they came about their unique wedding ceremony venue - a private residence in Ocean View, Mount Mee QLD. " It was important to us that we be married somewhere unique and that was a bit of a one off. There are some beautiful homes in Mount Mee so I decided to do a letter box drop with a small note asking residents if we would be able to marry in their garden. To my delight I received a phone call about three weeks later from the most wonderful woman who I hold responsible for making my husbands dreams come true. She explained that they had been collecting their friend's mail and saw my note and then asked if we would like to wed in their garden. When we saw their property for the first time we were completely gob smacked. It was the perfect space and had the most amazing view of the Glass House Mountains hinterland, with the ocean in the back ground. It looked like a painting."
One of the special moments from the day Natalie recalls, "Ryan sent me the most amazing message in the morning which just made the day for me, after that whenever I thought of him I would almost start crying with happiness. My bridesmaids found this very entertaining!! "
Ryan's aunty made the beautiful cake and repeated the same detail that was on Natalie's dress on the cake. Absolutely beautiful!
"Ryan and I put a lot of effort into our Wedding and made a lot of the most prominent features ourselves including wooden slabs for the centerpieces to sit on, menus, table numbers, petal cones, place seating cards sat in wine corks and signage for the ceremony. Our invitations were created by one of my bridesmaids and featured a custom designed Sullivan Crest which was replicated by Ryan's Auntie on our wedding cake, I made all of the other stationary including menus. The wedding cake also copied the same embroidery featured on my wedding dress, so was kept a secret from Ryan. You are limitless with what you can do. I never new I could be so creative." Natalie tells us.
