In 2018 we saw royal weddings, minimalist cakes and creative signage. Saying goodbye to the year means saying hello to some new wedding trends. Here are our 2019 wedding trend predictions.
Industrial Over Rustic
Rustic barns have been a popular venue over the last few years, but we think they will be on their way out in 2019. Brides will be turning more towards industrial vibes, using the same raw materials but with a more modern feel. Think refurbished factories, old warehouses and exposed brick detailing. Decor in these industrial spaces contrasts metallics and hard lines with lush greenery and soft florals. This style is a modern update on rustic themes, combining the classic styles with a new twist.
The Meghan Effect
It will come as no surprise that 2019 brides will draw inspiration from Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's nuptials, arguably the wedding of the year. There are a few particular features in Meghan's Markle's wedding look that are set to be hits in 2019. Most of the trends will come from the simple elegance that she exuded on her big day. Many models in the Bridal shows at New York Fashion week sported low maintenance hair styles, much like Meghan. Additionally, The Duchess of Sussex's tiara was a talking point of her outfit and 2019 is set to bring headpieces in fashion. The sophisticated neckline and lack of lace on her dress adds to this look and is also likely to feature next year.
Tech Focus
As new technologies become more mainstream it is likely that they will start becoming more incorporated into weddings. For 2019, this means involving virtual reality, augmented reality and drones into celebrations. Drones will be the big one, with wedding videographers able to capture more unique perspectives of the wedding. Drone technology has improved a lot over the last few years, so there will be no compromise in quality of images and video. Many couples are worried about their videographer getting in the way with bulk equipment. The use of a drone eliminates this fear.
Living Coral Is The New Pink
Pale and blush pink was a go to colour in 2018. However, the new year is set to see less pink and more shades of living coral and purple. Both the shades have the same versatility as pink, with lavender hues offering a soft touch, and bolder tones creating more drama. Mixing up the colour palette to incorporate more purple in 2019 refreshes colour palettes and makes the wedding seem more unique. Expect shades of coral and purple to feature in seasonal blooms, cake decorations and table settings. This also means that rose gold is on the way out, as it complimented blush tones more than a purple/coral based colour palette.
Monogrammed Gifts and Personal Touches
Monogramming is going to be the next big thing in bridesmaid's and groomsmen's gifts and bomboniere this season. Think monogrammed clutches and phone cases from The Daily Edited and robes and pyjamas from Neue Blvd. 2019 is going to be all about the special touches that make your wedding day yours and gifts that your guests and bride tribe will treasure for years to come.
Neon Light
For a real lit wedding, we are loving the neon light trend we have seen gracing wedding ceremonies and receptions recently. Not only are these signs obviously functional, but they can also be a modern and fun addition to your wedding styling. Choose from your wedding hashtag, a cute quote, table numbers, initial, love hearts or just a fun pattern to bring a modern edge to your wedding - even better you can keep the sign at home for years to come! #winning
Balloon Designs
If you follow us on Instagram, you would know that we are utterly OBSESSED with balloons at the moment. Get your guests excited with a balloon design at the entry to your wedding, an arch or ceremony backdrop, as reception decoration, or as a statement scattered throughout your day. The great thing about balloons is that they are only limited by your imagination. Expect to see some fun injected into weddings in 2019 with this trend.
Non Cake Alternatives
Gone are these days of three tiered classic or lemon cakes. If cake isn't your thing, 2019 is bringing with it some delicious non cake alternatives to have even the most critical sweet tooth swooning. Think donut walls, ice cream, cupcakes and cheese and charcuterie platters to satisfy your sweet tooth. If you are looking for some ideas, click here for some more tasty alternatives!
