Modern Wedding Approved Bridal Fashion Favourites

Modern Wedding Posted: December 24, 2018

The aesthetics of this season’s bridal collections can be summarised in one word: magic. Here is a few Modern Wedding approved bridal fashion favourites.

Gown: Leah Da Gloria, Photography: Lost In Love, Makeup & Hair: Janice Wu, Flowers: Sugar Bee Flowers, Styling: Craving Couture, Model: Giant Model Management

Low Key

Last season keyhole backs made their mark on the bridal fashion scene, but this year keyhole necklines have stolen the show. It’s all about showing a little bit of skin, with all the class of a high neckline.

Gown: Livne

Pure and Simple

All magic aside, the beauty of a pared back white gown endures. This demure style is captivating in its simplicity and a throwback to seasons gone by.

Gown: Justin Alexander

Rules are simply a thing of the past as designers reshape limitations and defy expectations to surprise a new generation of style savvy brides.

Crowning Glory

What is a queen without her crown? Move over circlets and floral wreaths, a gilded crown is the only thing adorning brides’ heads this season. Timeless in their appeal, these crowns bring a dash of majesty to any bride’s look. What’s more, we love this subtle nod to powerful women on top.

Gown: Berta Bridal, Headpiece & Jewellery: Maria Elena Headpieces & Accessories

Touch of Tulle

Brides will feel oh so pretty in the softest of tulle. Ball gowns featuring full tulle skirts and detachable over skirts, along with soft tulle fish tails, will see a bride floating down the aisle and a line of dreamy-eyed admirers in her wake.

Gown: Liz Martinez

Full Bloom

3D floral appliqué is bringing modern feels to bridal staples. Leading the charge on this trend, Whitney Port’s edgy, chandelier inspired gown by Ashi Studio, featuring intricate appliqué on the sleeves and bodice.

Gown: Berta

Fit For A Queen

Forget about finding a prince, because the latest bridal trends will make you Queen of the castle. Opulent gowns, reminiscent of medieval nobility, ruled the runways in royal fashion. Queenly styles include billowing capes, boleros, regal embellishments, long trains and skirt overlays.

Gown: Sophia Tolli - available at Mon Cheri

The Illusionist

This season it’s all about the art of illusion, from boat neck and plunging illusion necklines to complete illusion bodices. Lace and embellished details float across bare backs and arms, as seemingly invisible forces pull everything together in all the right places. These gowns are destined to mystify and amaze on the aisle, while risqué illusion bodices are intriguing as much as they are beautiful.

Gown: Monique Lhuillier

Silver Belles

All that glitters is not gold; this season it’s silver! Silver beading and metallic silver thread are just some of the techniques giving gowns a certain kind of lustre.

Gown: Zavana Bridal

Shake It Off

Channel your inner maiden in a romantic off the shoulder gown. Exuding femininity and a little bit of fairytale whimsy, these are the gowns that filled our childhood dreams.

Gown: Luv Bridal

Suit Up!

Bianca Jagger style. Non-traditional brides will love the alternative options this season with tailored jackets and pants, flowing silk pants and an array of delicate lace tops, all making a ‘suitable’ come back.

Separates: Alexandra Grecco

Far from channelling masculine vibes, the bridal suit presents a new found feminine aesthetic. Soft, elegant fabrics are used for the way they look as well as the way they move, gracefully highlighting womanly curves.
