Lucinda and Simon achieved the perfect combination of dramatic colour palettes, sparkling fairy lights and cosy vibes to bring their fairytale winter wedding vision to life. Despite the cold weather, this celebration of love was totally heartwarming and utterly gorgeous. Think glamorous winter wonderland meets cosy log cabin!
Perfect Match...
Lucinda and Simon met through the modern way of dating...Tinder! "Initially I didn't want Simon telling anyone that we met on Tinder but now I love it. It's a sign of the times!" laughs Lucinda. After their first meeting, the pair quickly fell for each other. They are also true believers of the saying 'when you know, you know' which might have something to do with the love story between Lucinda's parents. "My parents met on a Saturday night, were engaged the following Wednesday and have been together 42 years and counting!" shares Lucinda. It's hard not to believe in true love with a story like that.
Santorini Sunsets...
Although Lucinda and Simon didn't get engaged quite as quickly as Lucinda's parents, they still had a magical engagement. After travelling around Europe, the pair were staying in a Honeymoon suite in beautiful Santorini. One evening while the couple were drinking champagne and watching the sunset, Simon got down on one knee and asked Lucinda to marry him. "It was pretty magical," shares Lucinda. Once they got back to Sydney, the newly engaged couple threw a huge party for 110 of their friends and family in Sydney Harbour to celebrate their exciting news.
Winter Wedding Bells...
Despite their sunny Santorini engagement, Lucinda and Simon both knew that they wanted to have an enchanting winter wedding. "I wanted something very whimsical, feminine and romantic. We both loved the idea of open fireplaces and our guests sipping mulled wine," says Lucinda. The couple decided that Hopewood House in Bowral was the perfect venue for their winter wonderland wedding!
Coffee Until Cocktails...
On the day leading up to the wedding, the couple spent the whole morning together drinking coffee, and later champagne, with their bridal party. "Spending time together before the celebrations allowed us to get all the photos out of the way and it made the whole vibe really relaxed," says Lucinda. Simon had 4 groomsmen on the big day who all wore Ted Baker suits while the groom opted for a Canali suit. Lucinda also had 4 people in her bridal party which consisted of her sister, sister in law and two best friends. Each of the bridesmaids looked stunning in emerald green silk SHEIKE dresses which beautifully complemented the winter theme.
Winter Queen...
Lucinda looked every bit the dazzling winter wonderland queen in an Inbal Dror gown from Helen Rodrigues. The heavenly gown was 100% Israel tulle which radiated an effortlessly elegant feminine bridal look. The soft style was perfectly complemented by Lucinda's delicate bridal bouquet of three long stem white roses.
Winter Magic...
The gorgeous ceremony at Hopewood House was captured by Siempre, who had also photographed Simon and Lucinda's fabulous engagement party. "I love the colour grade they use on their photos," says Lucinda, "There's a deep warmth to their shots which is beautiful". The breathtaking ceremony incorporated stunning design details and a whole lot of love to create a heartwarming and sentimental vibe.
Keep It Cosy...
The reception was also held at Hopewood House which meant the celebrations could keep on rolling! The whole venue was glowing with the light of a dazzling chandelier and the tables were adorned with rich, winter flowers. Hopewood House was transformed into a cosy room filled with love and cheer...and a bar!
Fun Festivities...
The newlyweds kept their celebration super fun with plenty of entertainment to keep their guests excited! A stunning caricature of the happy couple was propped on a table next to an array of polaroids and pens so that their guests could take cute snaps as a memento of the day.
European Fairytale...
After their fairytale winter wedding, Simon and Lucinda headed back to Europe for a romantic tour of the Amalfi Coast and the south of France. "It was incredible and we made memories that I will hold onto forever," says Lucinda. Thinking back to the things that made their day so magical, Simon and Lucinda advise couples who are about to tie the knot not to get too caught up in expectations. "Your guests feed off your energy so try to relax and create a fun vibe," says Lucinda. And as always, enjoy the day!
