Jacqueline and Chris' wedding boasted a magical display of florals, family and fun. Their breathtaking ceremony amidst the gardens of South Yarra paid a touching tribute to their loved ones, their love for each other and...The Parent Trap.
Rosy Proposal...
It was young love for Jacqueline and Chris who met at Melbourne University when they were both studying undergraduate degrees. They fell for each other quickly and knew almost straight away that it was true love. Their sweet story continued in February 2018 when Chris asked Jacqueline to marry him. "Chris had organised for our close family and friends to come over to our house and celebrate with us after the proposal. He had decorated the house in roses and prepared a feast for the occasion," shares Jacqueline.
A Touch Of Olive...
From the outset, the couple knew they wanted their celebration to be happy and fun. "We always wanted a big wedding and being outdoors in the botanical gardens in the summertime just felt right to us," says the bride. Jacqueline had four bridesmaids in her bride tribe including her two closest friends from primary school and Chris' two younger sisters. The bridesmaids wore divine crepe knit ruffle dresses in a striking olive colour.
Suit And Tie...
Chris had four groomsmen on the big day which consisted of his closest friends and Jacqueline's brother. "It was important to us to have all of our siblings involved in our bridal party," says Jacqueline. Chris and his groomsmen all wore classic black dinner suits for the wedding with a deep pink rose lapel to match the colour scheme. Plus, the groom and groomsmen were joined by a special guest to help them get ready...the couple's adorable Italian Greyhound!
Timeless Look...
Jacqueline's vision for her bridal look was simple and classic. She worked with designer Amaline Vitale to ensure that this vision was brought to life with a stunning custom gown. "I loved working with Amaline and Sam," shares the bride, "They were fuss-free and even tolerated it when I broke the wedding dress a little bit by trying it on too many times before the wedding day!" Jacqueline's vibrant bridal bouquet was made up of premium pink, watermelon and plum roses for a delicate, feminine finish.
Naturally Candid...
The vibrant ceremony was held at Gardens House in South Yarra, surrounded by the couple's closest friends and family. "Both Chris and I come from very close families and for us, marriage was really about celebrating our families," says Jacqueline. The magical celebration was photographed by Tori + Sal, who specialise in capturing the natural moments at weddings which the couple loved.
Floral Daydream...
The reception was also held at Gardens House in a marquee which had been decorated to emulate a total floral fantasy. The colour scheme of deep pinks and lush green popped against the backdrop of sleek black tables and crystal glasses. "We knew we needed to go big with florals," says Jacqueline. Breathtaking blooms hung from the ceiling, coupled with dazzling fairy lights. Walking through the reception venue was like waking up in a floral wonderland.
The Parent Trap Tribute...
Floral wasn't the only theme of the day though. The newlyweds wanted to make sure that their big day paid tribute to Jacqueline's all-time favourite movie, The Parent Trap. "Our wedding playlist included songs like Nat King Cole's 'L.O.V.E', Natalie Cole's 'This Will Be (An Everlasting Love)' and The Lovin' Spoonful's 'Do You Believe In Magic'" shares Jacqueline.
You Gotta Have A Plan...
After honeymooning in the gorgeous Six Senses Fiji Malolo Island, Jacqueline and Chris have settled into their new lives as husband and wife and have had plenty of time to reflect on their magical day. Their biggest tip for newly engaged couples who are about to tie the knot? Plan, plan, plan! "For us, a lot of pre-planning meant that the day went very smoothly and was stress-free," says Jacqueline, "I think the more planning in advance, the better!"
