Floral garland is currently having a bridal moment, adding a natural and whimsical touch to any wedding theme, whether it be palm fronds for a tropical oasis or lush greenery paired with some bright pink blooms for a summer soiree. Here are a few of our favourite ways you can use garlands in your special day.
Use garland as a touch on your tables...
Greenery and floral garland is a stunning and simple centrepiece to add to any table setting. The great thing about this kind of decoration is that they fit within most budgets and take up a large amount of space, rarely needing much added to them. Pair a floral garland look with an array of glowing candles, fruit or bright flowers spiralled down the centre. Peonies or dahlias are a perfect way to add an extra level of drama to a table scape.
Sitting Pretty...
Who wouldn't want to be sitting pretty on their big day? Match your centrepiece look with garland adorned bridal chairs for that touch of something special and some added symbolism of being 'linked together'. You can even add this look to the chairs at your ceremony or your reception to bring the outside in. Leafy branches or eucalyptus are perfect for this kind of look.
Garland Aisle Style...
Make that important walk down the aisle even more gorgeous with a garland-lined aisle. An often forgotten space for decorating, this can be a memorable add on. Hang ethereal vines and rich blooms off pews or have a runner down the floor. Make this look even more dreamy with candles or lanterns. Talk about #heaven-sent
Suspended Scenery...
The arch at the end of the aisle is a pretty special spot - it is the place you say 'I do' after all! Make this spot that extra bit special with a garland arch. You can even pair garland with some soft curtains or linen sails for a more paired back look.
Here, there and everywhere...
As a cheaper alternative to flowers, garland gives you the opportunity to splurge a little. Add this element to walls, entryways, chandeliers and festoon lighting to add a natural touch to your reception. This can also make guests feel more intimate and welcome in a large space like a ballroom or a tented area.
Frame it...
Set your bridal scene early and add some extra colour and texture to your big day with garland framing your seating plan, welcome sign or menus.
MW TIP: Make sure to talk with your florist to see if there is any need to water prior to, or on the day, to ensure your garlands are looking vibrant and fresh!
