After connecting through mutual friends on Facebook, Dave and Mel tied the knot in sweet and simple style on Sydney's Northern Beaches.
Six degrees of separation...
"Dave and I met through a mutual friend – well mutual now – I lived next door to Dave’s mate, Ben, when I was first born, however we moved away when I was 2. We reconnected via Facebook 33 years later", recalls Mel. The couple met at a local pub, leading to a heartfelt European engagement.
"He got down on one knee whilst we were having a beautiful dinner at Ljubljana Castle in Slovenia."
Good food, good wine and a good dance!
" We said we wanted everyone at our wedding to eat good food, drink good wine, dance to great music and feel the love in the air" - Mel.
The couple aimed for a personal, relaxed and fun filled day for their guests, leaning towards rustic elements, soft pink, white and lilac tones at their dreamy North Head, Manly venue.
In keeping with this sweet and pretty theme, the bride's bridal party each wore dust pink, midi length gowns that they each chose individually, whilst the groomsmen all wore Peter Jackson suits paired with blue paisley ties.
Mel shone on her special day in a classic gown from Marry Me Bridal, paired with a bouquet of pink, purple and while blooms.
"All the little touches from the moment you walked into the venue were made to feel like they were there just for us. We made our own name tags/menu for the table, our wishing well was a basket decorated with fairy lights and as I am partial to taking the odd selfie or two we made a wooden picture frame with our favourite selfies taken over the course of our relationship."
Carefree and capturing the setting sun...
One of the couples prerequisites for their wedding photographer was someone friendly, whose style of photography fitted their carefree and relaxed wedding day. The couple found Lisa Thompson Photographer online and after meeting her were immediately drawn to her attitude and experience.
"We met up with Lisa and decided she was the photographer for us as she was so friendly, not pushy and her style of photography was exactly what we were after. We love our photos as there is a great mix of posed and candid photos of the whole day."
Memorable moments...
One of the couples favourite moments from their big day? "My 91 year old grandmother heckling our best man during his speech…" , Mel recalls. "Bless her she had couple of wines and can’t hear very well and all we could hear was her loud northern English accent saying ‘don’t forget the granny’… also seeing her get up for a dance during the night was just brilliant."
