D A N I K A + J O E L
"I will forever remember the look Joel gave me throughout the entire ceremony – its like no one else was there."
F R O M T H E B R I D E . . .
We fist met...
On Hamilton Island in 2007.
We knew it was love...
The moment we both boarded the plans to go home in 2007 – he was from Western Australia and I was from Queensland – we knew we didn’t want to be apart.
The proposal...
We were on Hamilton Island for my sisters birthday (where we met) Joel hired a helicopter and we flew to a private beach on Whitehaven beach where a picnic was setup and we swam with a turtle and drank champagne. He popped the question and we celebrated all night with our family & friends.
Our wedding style...
We just wanted the day to reflect us as a couple. I love how candles and fabric can create such a romantic feel so we used that element throughout. The little touches of vintage furniture coupled with immaculate gardens - I couldn’t have asked for a more perfect venue!
Pre-wedding celebrations...
We had friends and family from all over the globe fly to Western Australia for the wedding so we had many BBQs and catchups prior to the wedding which was perfect as on the day you never really get to see everyone!
Wedding photography...
I loved the way Ben Yew captures all the perfect private moments and uses light so romantically. When ever I look at our wedding photos it brings back exactly how I was feeing on the day…..Ben was so amazing to work with on the day – always had us in stitches! I love how Ben captured us as a couple – always laughing and easy going.
The dress...
Ceremony venue...
We had the ceremony under the big poplar tree at Old Broadwater Farm - the boys climbed the tree and draped some fabric throughout creating a soft romantic arch. The tree provided some shade for everyone and a gorgeous backdrop for our vows.
Reception venue...
Old Broadwater Farm has the most incredible marquee and deck for the reception and cocktail hour – everything you need is on site and so gorgeous!
Wedding flowers...
I chose white proteas and gum as I love native and rustic flowers and they added to our vintage/farm theme. The girls had white flowers with baby's breath mixed in. The flowers were by Mable & Grace.
Reception decor...
All the ladies of families helped with the setup the day before. There were lots of DIY touches. We used lots of white with native flowers, romantic candles and fabrics for texture.
On the menu...
Supper Road was the caterer. We had two hours of canapés for cocktail hour (which people are still talking about!) followed by a sit down dinner where guests chose their main and dessert.
Bonbonniere...
We had a photobooth which everyone loved. Guests took the pictures home as memories.
Memorable moments... The whole day and night was unforgettable - I was prepared for something to go awry but everything and everyone was so amazing - the weather cleared up the day before and we couldn't have wished for a more perfect day!
Wedding Soundtrack...
All Of Me - John Legend ( first dance)
How Long Will I Love You - Ellie Goulding ( bridal walk)
Juno - If i Was A Flower (signing song)
Honeymoon...
A month-long winter Euromoon! Long awaited and so excited!
The future...
Hopefully some baby Grays waddling around a beautiful home with many dogs
In 40 years we hope to…
Be as blissfully content and in love with life as we are now
