In the middle of bustling Sydney, Jesse and Lindsay found a secluded spot. This is where they could be surrounded by natural beauty and lush greenery for their vegan inspired wedding. Their celebration of love underneath the fig trees perfectly encapsulated the simple and sweet love they share for one another.
School Girl Crush...
Jesse and Lindsay first met as young university students studying criminology. They formed a powerful and lasting bond straight away which eventually grew into true love. "What started as a friendship blossomed into love and has been a strong force in keeping us together for the last 11 and a half years," says Lindsay.
Unplanned Proposal...
While Jesse had orchestrated a romantic proposal at sunset on a beach in Port Douglas, things didn't go as planned. "The excitement overwhelmed Jesse and he ended up making a hasty decision to propose to me at our home whilst we were both in pyjamas. This was the night before we left for Port Douglas!" shares Lindsay. Although the proposal wasn't accompanied by a beautiful sunset and romantic sea breeze, it was a perfect reflection of the love the couple share.
City Meets Nature...
Jesse and Lindsay decided to tie the knot at Cook and Phillip Park in Sydney, followed by a reception at Bodhi Restaurant. They felt that the venue choices combined a perfect balance of city vibes with beautiful natural offerings, which ultimately reflected the couple's lifestyle. "Bodhi Restaurant Sydney is a completely vegan restaurant, and we wanted to share this value with our family and friends on our special day," says Lindsay.
Close Knit Bridal Party...
The couple wanted their nearest and dearest to play instrumental roles on their big day. The bridal party consisted of three of Jesse's close friends as groomsmen and Lindsay's three best girlfriends as bridesmaids. Having a bridal party of close friends and family created an intimate connection throughout the ceremony that made Jesse and Lindsay feel relaxed and content.
Feminine Elegance...
Lindsay's Pronovias wedding gown combined feminine elements with romantic touches for a truly dreamy bridal look. Lindsay fell in love with the sweetheart neckline, mermaid skirt and draped off-the-shoulder sleeves immediately! "After trying on multiple bridal dresses, I knew straight away that the Dante by Pronovias truly reflected my personality and style," she says. The bridal style was accompanied by a simple and delicate ivory tulle veil.
Suit Up...
Jesse wanted his attire to have a relaxed but sophisticated vibe. He chose to wear a navy suit with a white shirt and burgundy accessories, all by Roger David, paired with dark brown shoes. Jesse's look elegantly combined a modern style with a laid back feel.
Underneath The Fig Trees...
"The style of the wedding could be described as cute and simple, tucked away in a rugged park in the city," says Lindsay. The ceremony took place underneath the Moreton bay fig trees and was decorated with greenery and white florals, white drapery and hanging tree lights which created a beautiful space. "The atmosphere was filled with laughter and love," says Lindsay of the magical moment that her and Jesse said "I do".
Classic With A Twist...
The reception venue was decorated by blending all the classic elements of a traditional white wedding. The styling championed white florals and green foliage which was complemented by tea lights and fairy lights. This accentuated the magical atmosphere that featured throughout the whole day. The couple shared that one of their favourite parts of the wedding planning process was getting to taste test the menu at Bodhi Restaurant! "It was nice to build a custom menu for our guests to enjoy." says Lindsay.
Peace, Love, Vegan...
The reception menu was entirely vegan friendly as vegan food is Bodhi Restaurant's specialty. The wedding cake was a timeless naked cake which consisted of three different flavoured tiers. The layers included salted caramel, lemon and vanilla, smothered in vanilla buttercream.
Party Time...
The couple's first dance song was "Angel" by Jack Johnson which they selected because of its beautiful message from a husband to his wife. The rest of the reception playlist was built by Lindsay and Jesse's guests' requests. The highlight of the day for the newlyweds was when everyone let their hair down and danced the night away.
To The Future And Beyond...
Lindsay and Jesse's main advice for future brides and grooms is to not sweat the small stuff. The focus should be on the love you have for each other. Above all, they emphasise the importance of doing what makes both of you happy and enjoy the rollercoaster of emotions on the day. "It's all over so quickly so make sure you remember why you are there and do not lose sight of the day being about love," share the newlyweds.
