Christmas is just around the corner. While we all know that the food is the hero of any Christmas lunch, a beautifully styled table can add that extra wow factor. If you have no idea where to start with styling your Christmas table, here are some ideas to give you some inspiration.
Aussie Aussie Aussie
Australia has some beautiful flora. What better way to give your Christmas table a distinctly Australian feel than to include some of the best native blooms. One of our favourite Australian inspired styling ideas is to use eucalyptus leaves as a table runner. Add in some candles and Christmas trinkets like silver baubles to complete the look. Other Australian flora that makes for great table decorations include gum leaves, tetra nuts, white waratah and banksia varieties. Arrange the flora in a variety of jars, pots or vases for an eclectic, yet Australian look.
Get Crafty
DIY decorations are the perfect way to add personalised touches to your Christmas table styling. They can also a great way to get children more involved. Worried that you are not quite up to the challenge of DIY? Pinterest is our go to for all our DIY needs and has plenty of ideas for all ages and abilities. Some of our favourites include napkins folded into Christmas trees, decorating candles and candleholders, and hand made name cards. Your guests will appreciate the personal touches and the extra effort you went to to make your table special.
Style Up
The table itself is not the only thing that completes your Christmas table styling look. Add some extra styling features by using the space above the table. If the lights above your table allow it, decorating them with greenery to match your table is a great way to extend your styling beyond the table and offer a complete design. Additionally, if there is room to hang something above your table, there are plenty more styling options. Using a hook and some ribbon, a wreath can be simply suspended above the table. For a more spectacular hanging centrepiece, hang a bough and decorate it with the same foliage and flowers used on your table.
Winter Wonderland
Almost all Christmas stereotypes revolve around winter, with snow, fireplaces and Christmas sweaters. While here in Australia, our Christmas is likely to be hot, you can still embrace a wintery Christmas in your styling. There are plenty of ways in incorporate a winter wonderland theme into your Christmas table styling. An icy blue and white colour palette, snowflake decorations such as napkin rings or monochrome florals are all ways to create a wintery table.
Coastal Dream
While a coastal themed table is less Christmas inspired, the cool colour scheme and relaxed vibe can be easily adapted to reflect the Christmas spirit. Pearl, white and silver compliment blue beach tones. Fill a bowl with some sand and top with shells and baubles in matching colours to combine the Christmas and coastal vibes. A linen tablecloth or hessian table runner will tie the whole look together. Similarly, glassware can be kept simple, as clear glasses further enhance the relaxed, beach inspired theme.
