Cake Slice Box – DIY

Modern Wedding Posted: February 13, 2013

Weddings are all about presentation and making the day memorable. A small gift is a great way to say thank you to guests for being part of your day. These stylish cake-slice bomboniere boxes can be made and decorated in any colour or style that fits in with your theme. Fill them with a piece of your wedding cake for guests to enjoy after the wedding. Be sure to line the boxes with parchment paper to avoid baked goods soiling the box

Materials: 8 sheets of 250 gsm A4 paper required to make one complete cake. Bone folder, double sided tape, and 4 m satin ribbon. Paper flowers for decoration. If making a chocolate brown box you will need a white pencil to trace template onto to the paper.

  1. Download .  Trace and cut out eight templates.
  2. Score and fold paper along the broken line and glue tabs marked with an X to the inside.  Fold the box lid over to the inside and secure with a sticky dot. .
  3. To decorate, mark the middle of a 50cm length of white ribbon and attach a 10cm strip of double-sided tape to the back of it. Place the taped centre of the ribbon onto the pointy end of the box to hold the ribbon in place before tying the rest of the ribbon around the box to look like a layer of cream. Tie the ends in a bow and trim.
  4. Add a paper flower to the lid of each box.

Note: Using a bone folder on thicker paper to score folds before folding will give you a much better finish and will make the job a lot easier.
