I must say I was thrilled when the talented James from James Billing Photography shared this wedding with us. I am in love with Bali weddings! The beauty, the exciting yet relaxed atmosphere they exude just make me want to jump in there and be apart of it... and this wedding is no exception.
I love how this couple, Jess and Chris have incorporated the DIY/rustic feel into their Balinese garden party wedding, all the while using Balinese suppliers for the majority of the wedding supplies. You can tell from the photos that planning a Bali wedding was no big stress for them! Jess told us, "Planning the wedding was a lot of fun! Getting married in Bali meant we co-ordinated most things through our Bali wedding planner and enjoyed dreaming up ideas that they would then make possible."
Jess and Chris spent most of their planning time on exciting events for the guests outside of their wedding day, "everyone was on holidays for at least a week, we made the most of meeting up as much as possible."
Their wedding was on July 10th 2012 in Canggu, Bali.
Jess describes one of the special moments of the day, "It was very special walking down the aisle with my dad, he distracted me with funny conversation and as a result we have naturally happy photos."
The couple were lucky enough to have their friend as the photographer for their wedding, their photos as a result are full of natural and comfortable shots. "We didn't want to spend much time away from the party, which made James' life difficult, but his passion was infectious and the bridal party photo's were a real highlight of the day."
Jess used local flowers and lots of random mixed jars for the table centrepieces, to add that personal DIY touch to the reception. "We also designed bamboo fans to give to the girls that had our names and the details of the wedding carved onto them. And we had framed photographs of our parents and grandparents on their wedding days displayed near the entrance."
Jess and Chris chose to hold their wedding ceremony and reception at a villa called Simona Oasis and Spa because of the intimacy it provided. They found that it was a great outdoor space surrounded by beautiful rice paddies.
Thanks so much for sharing this wedding with us and a big congratulations to the happy Jess and Chris!
