The Meeting...
We met in 2001 in Cronulla with mutual friends, but didn't end up dating till 9 years later.
Love...
We both knew it was something very special from the day we first met all those years ago, but fell in love somewhat straight away in 2006 as our friendship was already so strong from the many years we had been the absolute best of friends.
The Proposal...
We got engaged on the 22nd of November 2013, just after I returned from a trip overseas - they say absence makes the heart grow fonder! It was just before Christmas, Luke proposed at home in front of the Christmas tree whilst wrapping presents. He said the present was one he had wrapped earlier and I could open it early. I remember screaming like a little girl when he proposed, my ring was perfect and of course I said yes yes yes!!!!!!!
Wedding Style...
From day one we knew we wanted something soft, floral and ultra romantic and I think we achieved this with beautiful soft whites and cream flowers with green foliage, large silver candelabras, candles everywhere, two king tables with floral runner and my own styling touches of a personalised light box with our monogram from our invitations and a canvas scroll with one of our favourite poems and white carpet for us to walk in on.
Ceremony Venue...
The Garrison church in Millers Point.
Reception Venue...
Oatlands House - Garden Ballroom.
The Dress...
I have dreamed of my wedding day since I was a little girl and wanted the perfect dress. I remember driving past Personalised Weddings Couture in Earlwood and seeing the shop window for many years, always wishing and dreaming I would walk down in something so special. Throughout the process there was just so much care, perfection and dedication all the way to my final pickup to ensure my fairytale dress was more than PERFECT. My inspiration was to create something femine sexy and effortless with tight figure hugging lace to individually cut and placed petals surrounding the bottom, sweeping with an over exaggerated hem line to get that huge gasp when my now husband saw me for the first time. Personalised Weddings achieved this, creating absolute perfection and making my fairytale a reality.
Bridesmaid Dresses...
They were literally the first dresses I found and instantly fell in love with. I found them in a boutique store called Tribeca in Ramsgate which is run by two sisters and they were so helpful. I wanted a dress no one else would have, and something original. These dresses where just perfect.
The Flowers...
The flowers on the day were spectacular, lasting the whole day even with the warmish weather. As the girls dresses were very sexy already I went with a simple posy of babies breath and for myself a huge fluffy bouquet of cream peonies, cream freesias, for a beautiful scent and cream hydrangeas for the added fullness. They were more than I could imagine and I never wanted to put them down.
Wedding Styling...
We wanted a warm and romantic feel which I think we pulled off with the help of our truly amazing florist John Emmanuel from Luxurious Events. We wanted it to look like a 'floral explosion' with warm candle light. We had two large king tables down the centre for family. These were decorated with double ivory organza and satin with silver stands and our main attraction our floral canopies filled with cream roses and hanging phalaenopsis orchids. The rest of the tables had beautiful candelabras with full florals complementing the king tables.
Our main table was my special touch having a personalised light box with our monogram from our invitations along with 100 candles, draping orchids and hanging backdrops. To also personalise the big day we had a canvas scroll made up with a favourite poem of ours to highlight the back of the room along with a white carpet runner for us to walk in on. Throughout the room we also had silver plates and vertical sashes on our chairs for added effect.
Wedding Bomboniere...
I wanted our bomboniere to be special and from the heart so I made them at home. They were a mini succulent plant, all different varieties, in terracotta pots wrapped in ivory organza with a personalised tag from Luke and I. So everyone can watch our love grow.
Wedding Songs...
Our day was made up of a combination of traditional and songs that have made us over the years. The church was very traditional as we come from very religious families. My bridesmaids walked down to Pachelbel Canon in D and I walked down to the traditional bridal march by Mendelssohn. The recessional was the bridal march from A Midsummer Night Dream.
We walked into our reception to john legend All of Me
We cut our cake to Stacey Orico's I Promise
Our first dance was Scharlene Soraia Wherever You Will Go
Bridal party was Ed Sheeran's Thinking Out Loud
Memories...
Walking down the aisle with my dad and having him give me away was very special for me. I am actually the first girl in over 50 years on my dads side of the family, so it was a very special day and moment for the family. Our first dance I don't think I can sum up in any other words but magical. It just felt like there was nobody in the room and nothing else in the world we could ever need and our lives were truly complete in this moment. It still makes me melt thinking about it.
Wedding Photographer...
Splendid Photography was recommended through Luke's work. We chose them for our engagement and we never looked back. Our photos were absolutely spectacular and our friendship with the guys just grew. I wouldn't of had anyone else covering our one special day and they sure did not disappoint.
The photos are so natural beautiful and stunning. They captured absolutely all the best moments of our day and so many we didn't even realise which happen to be some of our absolute favourites. Splendid are truly the best photographers on the planet without a doubt.
Honeymoon...
What an amazing time! We had 4 weeks away and went to Paris, Rome, Maldives to Dubai - a trip of a lifetime with many memories.
The Future...
To continue building our empire together (as we call it!), we are unstoppable together. We'd like to start a family in the next few years and just simply love and laugh with each other more and more every day.
