It was 8 am on Saturday morning. I don't normally start my weekends at such an early hour, but there was reason behind the madness. The sun was bright and casting beautiful shadows through the trees. My fiancée and I arrived at the location of our engagement shoot a little nervous, excited and totally unsure what to expect. Like most couples, we're not professional models and we're not the most natural people in front of a camera.
You heard from the photographers, this week hear from the photographed...
We walked down a dirt path(bare feet as we decided our suede boots wouldn't fare well in the mud!) and I became aware of my entire body, toes, knees, hips...I thought about each blink and every movement.
Was it awkward? Most definitely at first! Lucky for me our photographer David Sheerman of Sheer Image Photography is a genius and captured the natural smile which laughs at the awkward one! I am so excited to share this shoot with you Modettes, I only hope you enjoy this shoot as much as I loved being in it!
A little tip from David - When you stand at an angle (like the picture above) it is more flattering and shows a nicer shape than standing completely to the front. It's true that you need to 'know your angles', but in reality many of us don't! An engagement shoot is the perfect opportunity to learn what works for you i.e. Note to self - don't pull that face on the wedding day!
If you have the chance to take part in an engagement shoot then I strongly recommend it. It may seem like an extra thing to do at such a busy time, but for confidence in front of the camera on your wedding day, photos that you will always love and a fun time with your future husband - it's so worth it!
Isabel 🙂
