We first met...
At dental school as students, we started getting to know each other in third year when we had more classes together.
The proposal...
We were engaged on the Wheel of Brisbane. I knew something was up when I was trying to defrost my dinner only to find it back in the freezer. I asked Nathan about it and he said that we would be heading out to dinner but wouldn’t say where. We had a beautiful dinner at South Bank followed by a walk along the river. Nathan had then hired out a gondola on the Wheel and popped the question at the top, it was very sweet!

Our wedding dream...
We wanted good food and drinks at a venue with a nice aesthetic. We had a loose navy and mustard theme and our invitations, menus and bridal party attire to reflect this. The rest of the theming was anything goes, we left a few of the decisions up to the vendors who really surprised us on the day.
Wedding Photography...
We chose Gabriel Veit as our photographer. We had him photograph our engagement party and were so impressed with the way he managed to stealthily capture so many beautiful moments. He floored us again with our wedding photos, our photos tell a story of the day we can reflect back on.
The ceremony venue...
The sculpture courtyard at The Queensland Gallery of Modern Art.
The reception venue...
Rooftop Terrace at The Queensland Gallery of Modern Art.
The bridal party...
Nathan had his brothers and I had two of my closest friends from high school.
What did your bridesmaids wear?
Gold coloured multi-way convertible dresses from Etsy.
What did your groomsmen wear?
Navy blue Paul Smith Suits.
What did your groom wear?
Navy blue suit from Richard and Richards.
The dress...
My gown was slim fitting with a detailed lace and silk bodice with a flowing silk skirt. I sat down with Anna Peng and sketched out a dress based on a few things I liked the idea of. It was one of my favourite parts of the planning process, seeing it come together over the 8 or so appointments we had was very exciting. I used mum’s veil as part of my something old, I was so grateful she kept it.
Wedding flowers...
I loved the idea of native flowers and left the choice up to the florist as to what would look best with what the girls were wearing. I was so shocked with how beautiful they were on the day they showed up, super impressed!
Reception style...
We ordered in a chandelier, a black and white tiled dance floor and some white lounges to fill out our dance area. We went for black table cloths and the florist supplied native flowers as out centrepieces. Out on the deck overlooking the river is stunning at night, the city lights were a real feature at our wedding.
On the menu...
We had a sit down meal with an alternative drop menu. Entrees were salmon and duck, mains were lamb tortelloni and barramundi. For dessert we had our cake served to guests and for those still hungry we had a cheese station to pick at.
Bonbonniere...
Yes! Nathan’s mum Linda made up some little boxes filled with 5 blue and gold chocolate hearts, one for every year we had been together.
Memorable moments...
It really was the best day ever, a personal highlight was seeing Nathan’s face at the end of the aisle. Coming in a close second was my Nanna dancing up a storm all night, she literally didn’t stop all night.
Wedding Soundtrack
We entered to The Trammps - Disco Inferno, had our first dance to Queen – Best Friend and our exit song was David Bowie – Modern Love.
