With a click of a button, Anisha & Ashwin began a three hour Facetime conversation ending in a breathtaking, bright and traditional special day.
Full of life...
"We wanted to bring our traditional indian culture to life in a very modern and unique way.We wanted a big wedding full of personal details, lots of family, and tons of fun for our guests" says Anisha.
The couple's special day was an infusion of pastel colours and elegant, statement pieces. Traditionally set with chargers, personalised menus and fresh flowers and personalised gift boxes asking guests to vote for one of two charities for the couple to donate to in their honour.
Fashion with a conscience...
Anisha's wedding gown was unconventional, choosing to step away from the traditional red coloured dress and opting for a gold and coral coloured gown. Inspired by designer Anita Dongre's fashion with a conscience, the bride chose her gown whilst in India. "My family (pictured) and Ashwin (my new husband) also wore Anita Dongre", she says.
Giving back...
The couple asked that no gifts be purchased for them and instead requested donation to be made to their favourite charities. "We chose to have guests take part in a friendly competition by casting votes for my charity of choice, The American Heart Association; or Ashwin’s charity of choice, Pratham, a charitable organisation in India that works to provide primary education for underprivileged children. With each vote, a contribution was made to his or her charity. The result was more than $15,000 raised for the two deserving organisations".
Married life...
The couple honeymooned in Thailand and hope to continue to grow old together and in 40 years time hope to be playing with their grandchildren.
Words of wisdom...
"Don’t feel that you need to jump into planning right away! Lock in the basics then enjoy your “fiancé” and time celebrating your engagement. You only get to call them your “fiancé” for a small period of time afterall".
