Melinda and Andrew wed in a style that is truly theirs. The day was imbued with their personality in the most tasteful of ways so as to create a chic, vintage yet fun wedding they will never forget!

We first met…
At a friend's birthday party.
We knew it was love…
Melinda - When I missed him on the days I didn't see him.
Andrew - When I realised I didn't enjoy watching films by myself anymore. And being a movieholic I used to watch movies by myself all the time.
The proposal…
One ordinary Monday, Andrew suddenly appears in my classroom, while I'm halfway between lunch and naptime (I'm an early childhood teacher). I get the nervous feeling that something bad has happened. But instead he pulls out a small box, and says 'I love you and I want to spend the rest of my life with you'. I am speechless. Until I finally recover and say 'Yes!'

Dream wedding…
We love the vintage theme and decided on a colour theme of lilac and grey.
Photography…
Because I've always admired Darren's work from when we used to work together. I like his composition and creativity. We love that they captured the carefree mood of the day
Ceremony location…
Observatory Hill Rotunda
Reception location…
The Deckhouse in Woolwich.
Pre-wedding celebrations…
Just some champagne and pizza as the ladies were getting ready.
Bridesmaids…
I had three bridesmaids- all good friends spanning the last 25 years of my life.
They wore…
Simple and elegant lilac strapless gowns.
Groomsmen wore…
Smart and sexy Hugo Boss suits.
The dress…
I love the Roaring 20s Art deco fashion. After trying on a few gowns at trusted bridal salons, I decided on a beaded Rosa Clara gown.
The flowers…
To match the purple colour scheme, the wonderful ladies at Best Buds selected a wonderful range of seasonal roses, orchids and berries.
The reception decor…
On each table we had simple bouquets of white roses with lush greens on a mirror base, complemented with tea lights.
Which company(ies) did the flowers, decorations and cake?
On the menu…
3 course sit down menu.
Entree- Seared scallops or Grilled lamb cutlet
Main- Crispy Duck Breast or Corn fed chicken
Dessert- Blood orange and meringue mess or Wild mixed berry and honeycomb ice cream parfait
Wedding cake- Black Star Orange Cake with Lemon icing
Bonbonniere…
Handmade packages of herb seeds
Memorable moments…
Catching the water taxi from our hotel in Circular Quay to the Deckhouse.
Wedding soundtrack…
We both love movies so there was a soundtrack of love songs from the movies during mealtimes. We had some classic Jazz love songs to welcome the guests and ended the night with some contemporary dance music.
We walked down the aisle to Moon River (from Breakfast at Tiffany's) and our first dance was Can't take my eyes off you by the Franki Valli and the Four Seasons.

Advice for enjoying the engagement…
All your friends and family are going to ask you when the wedding is on. Take your time. If you want to have a long engagement, go for it. If you want to get married quick, go for it. Remember, you're in control, so there's no need to feel pressured or rushed by anyone or anything
Advice for planning…
Don't stress out. Do your homework online and narrow down your choices for each component to 4 or less and only make time to visit those in person. Book things as early as you can as the rest of your life also needs to go on.
Advice for enjoying the wedding day…
Have a run sheet for timings but be flexible as unexpected things will happen.
