Being a third generation farmer and living on a cotton farm meant that a wedding in the countryside was the perfect setting for Glen and Hannah's big day. The theme for the wedding drew on the colour palette of the surrounding landscape paired with classy boho style elements.
And then there was you...
Hannah and Glen were first introduced through mutual friends on the dance floor at a local pub one Friday night. "It was definitely love at first sight," says Hannah. "We met each other at a time in our lives when we needed that special person the most," she remembers. Both say that they knew it was love quite early on in the piece.
The big question...
Glen had a close friend help get a shirt made for the couple's one-year-old daughter, Daisy, with the words ‘Mummy, will you please marry my daddy?’ printed on it. Hannah says, "He then dressed her in it after the bath at our home one night and proposed with her, Moet, chocolates and one beautiful ring he designed with the help of a local jeweller". Hannah remembers it being the most beautiful night and so special as it included their daughter Daisy too. "It was also incredibly special because the proposal took place in our own home, which we plan to live in for many years to come," said Hannah.
A classy boho style...
"We always wanted a boho themed wedding but also keeping it quite classy at the same time," says Hannah. Various shades of pink mixed with pops of gold was Hannah's chosen colour palette for the day. The couple chose gold foiling and floral invites designed by Ivory Lane Stationery. On the big day the reception tables were styled with vibrant bouquets and pink florals in gold vases. "Living on a cotton farm and marrying a third generation farmer there had to be a touch of country in there too," said Hannah. The men’s boutonnieres included cotton balls and many of the photos took place in the paddocks around the property.
Memories for a lifetime...
Hannah and Glen chose to use Lara Milenko from Milenko Weddings as their wedding photographer. "We had her highly recommended to us by a close friend, who is also the founder of Ivory Lane Event Styling & Hire, Jane Brennan. We also looked at her work on Instagram and completely fell in love with her naturally captured photos," said Hannah.
The couple were overjoyed with the images. "They are just perfect in every way," said Hannah. "The natural lighting used in all of the photos is exactly what we asked for. Also, we really wanted special photos of our daughter, Daisy, who was flower girl. Lara captured her so beautifully," she said. "We have laughed and cried at our photos so many times since receiving them, they truly show what a fun and perfect day it was."
Nearest and dearest...
The bridal party was made up of Hannah and Glen's closest friends. Some being childhood friends and others being friends that the couple had met later in life. "Each of our groomsmen and bridesmaids all hold a special place in our heart," said Hannah. "The day wouldn’t have been complete without them standing beside us." The bridesmaids all wore different dresses in shades of nude and pink. Hannah let them choose what they wanted to wear, just asking them to stick to the same colour palette. "I loved this idea as the dresses they chose reflected who they were and they felt comfortable," she said.
The boys wore tan Country Road chinos along with navy Gazman suede jackets. "The ties were from Peter Jackson, they were quite different but really suited the girls' dresses and looked great with the boys' attire." The groomsmen’s outfits were purchased about a month after the couple's engagement, as they knew exactly what they were after.
Glen wore the same outfit as his groomsmen. "Being a farmer, he is not too big on fashion so when we saw a photo we liked we stuck with that. I suppose you could say we chose the suits we did as they can be worn again casual or dressy."
All dressed in white...
Hannah's wedding gown was a beautiful full French lace with a cut out back. "It was a dream to wear, being so light and comfortable," says Hannah. She purchased the dress from the Grace Loves Lace boutique in Burleigh Heads, QLD. "Rachael was my stylist on the day, she was so lovely and helpful as I wasn’t quite sure what I was after," said Hannah. She made the wedding dress shopping experience a breeze, remembers Hannah. "I highly recommend this boutique to other brides for their professionalism, but also their fun and happy charisma as soon as you walk in. I tried it on in October and it was then posted to me February the following year. It fit me like a glove." Hannah's inspiration for the gown came from a screenshot of a gown on her phone. All of the screenshots she'd taken were all quiet different, but she always knew she would purchase her dream dress from Grace Loves Lace.
Masses of blooms...
I have always loved roses so they were definitely first on the list. They’re a classical flower but still have a bohemian feel. They were the main floral in the bouquets along with lisianthius that the florist suggested. The contrasting deep and soft pinks along with the eucalyptus greenery created a fun yet still textured bouquet.
