Being a bridesmaid is hard! From dress fittings, to cake tastings, makeup trials to mental breakdowns, your bridesmaids see it all in the lead up to your big day. Here are 8 ways to make your bride tribe feel special and valued during the entire wedding process.
Ask them in a special way
A bridesmaids proposal is such a sweet way to ask your friends to play such a special role in your big day. Instead of asking them during your gym class or over your weekly breakfast date, ask them with a gift box of sweet treats that you will know they love. Give them some choice in their dress
There is nothing worse than wearing a dress that you HATE! Even worse when you have to pay a lot of money for it. Each member of your bridal party may have totally different body shapes and it is almost impossible to find a 'one dress suits all' style that everyone will feel comfortable in. Another option is letting your girls choose how they accessorise their look, or letting them wear a pair of shoes that they will be comfortable in. Here are some trends we are loving for this season!
Respect that they have a life outside of planning your wedding
As much as your wedding is the only priority in your life at the moment, it isn't everyones one and only priority. Respect your bridesmaids work requirements and own social lives. Try to be accomodating to everyone's timetables when planning events and catch ups and don't be too harsh if someone can't make it. For example, a Monday morning dress fitting might not be ideal for those who work Monday - Friday, try work around your bridesmaids' schedules, see if they can leave work an hour early or take a long lunch break.
Don't expect too much
Not all of your bridesmaids will be on the same budget, so be mindful of that and keep track of how much everyone is spending on your big day. Add up the total costs of all your bridesmaids expenses, including their dress, shoes, the hens party, accomodation etc and think about whether you think it is a reasonable amount for them to fork out for your big day.
Give them all different responsibilities
One way to make each of your bridesmaids feel special is to give them all responsibilities their personalities and interests are best suited to. If one of your girls loves baking, take her on your cake tasting or menu tasting, she will appreciate that you value her opinion that much to involve her in something so important.
Pamper night
Treat your bride tribe to a night of pampering and fun the night before your big day as a way of saying thank you for all of their hard work and stress over the last few months. A night of spray tans, manicures, pedicures, teeth whitening and chick flicks will leave your squad feeling well rested and fabulous before the big day.
Thank them
After all their hard work, it is only right you give your girls a few gifts. You don't need to spend a fortune to show them how grateful you are, a pair of monogrammed pyjamas or robes to wear pre wedding, or some jewellery to wear during the day, paired with a thoughtful card is all they need to feel special and valued. Have fun!
Most importantly, just have fun with your girls! Enjoy your day with your bridesmaids and celebrate the entire journey that you have shared together.
