Ask the wedding doctor
- When should the bride and groom fill teh "unity sand " jar during the ceremony?
Wedding unity jars are fast becoming a hot new trend, especially at outdoor and beach ceremonies. Traditionally the bride and groom each take a different coloured sand and pour it into the unity jar to symbolise the coming together of their lives and the strong foundation it’s built on.
This should be done during your wedding ceremony but at exactly which point is up to you.
Involve your marriage celebrant so they can explain to your guests what is happening and what this ritual symbolises. You can also involves your parents as they could pour some sand into your jar before you do, to symbolise the life you had with them.
The options are endless and can be adjusted to suit you as a couple as well as the style of your wedding.
