Ask the wedding doctor

  • How can I get my fiance to help out with planning the wedding more? He is happy to leave it all to me and it's stressing me out!
  • Firstly, you can take heart that this issue is more common than you think. You are not alone, and if you want to chat to other bride's about it you should head over to the forums and begin a discussion.

Some men find it hard to get involved in wedding planning because they think it is the "girl's business". Often the thought of flowers, invitations and bombonniere, cakes, catering, seating, guest lists, decorations etc are all too overwhelming for him. They also find (in many cases) that the love of their life (you) has gone from a doting, loving and relaxed person to a frantic, madwoman whose every waking moment is focused on flowers, colour schemes, cakes and cutting his friends from the guest list. This may seem harsh, but I'm trying to make you understand what he may be thinking, worst case senario.

The way to tackle this is to tone down the bridezilla around him, and try to get him enthused in parts of the wedding that may excite him, like the romantic honeymoon, the cars (I know, a bit sexist), and of course the big party at the end.

    Good luck!
