Ask the wedding doctor

  • I am having difficulty selecting a colour scheme for my big day. I would like a colour that will suit all of my bridesmaids, but other than that I have no idea where to start! Any suggestions?
  • Start by thinking about the theme of your day. For example you might be having a lovely beach wedding that in turn may lend itself to blues and crisp whites. Or a classy city ‘do’ where black and white could be your colours of choice.
The place and venue for your nuptials can be a great starting point for choosing colours.

Try thinking about the season are you getting married in. Nature has provided us with a natural palette of colours so why not use them? Autumn may lend itself to bronze, browns, gold and plum; Winter could be white, red and warm cosy tones. Spring is associated with bright colours like apple green and lemon while summer could use those crisp whites and bright blues and orange.

What is special to you? If your favourite colour is hot pink use that as a starting point. Select hot pink lilies, pink nail varnish for your tootsies and pink table centres for your lucky guests to feast their eyes on over the dinner table.

Last but of course not least, get some inspiration from our image gallery. Check Modern Wedding magazine and earmark those themes you like the look of both in our real weddings section and also the new Modern Palatte pages.

I hope that gives you some ideas.
