Established in Sydney in 2000, Origene Jewellery Design is led by master jeweller Pietro Facchin.
Pietro honed his skills on Zurich's prestigious Bahnhofstrasse, learning with the finest master jewellers on the best of materials and the most exacting customers. With more than 25 years' experience he has designed and handmade several pieces that won National Jewellery Awards for his clients. Pietro also won the inaugural Harper's Bazaar Diamond Guild Australia Fantasy Diamond Award with his "Infinity Bracelet" and its breath taking 34ct of Russian diamonds.
He specialises in hand making platinum jewellery, drawing inspiration from his client's design brief. "Most often I get a glimpse of their personal story and try to incorporate little elements in the design to reflect their personality and style. Nothing compares to seeing my clients' smile and emotions when they come to pick up their ring," he says.
Pietro carefully considers the metals he uses in both engagement rings and wedding bands. In keeping with current trends he is using white metal in a lot of his designs. "With the Great Gatsby's rise at the box office, Art Deco is influencing many new designs. Geometric shapes with contrasting colours can be seen everywhere in the fashion world. This translates in the jewellery world with a rise in coloured gemstones used to emphasise contrasting diamond elements," says Pietro.
He always recommends having the engagement ring whilst he makes the wedding band to ensure it fits nicely and matches the ring's profiles. "When possible I also work along a complementary design from the man's wedding band so it echoes the engagement ring design."
