Q1. I like so many different styles – where do I start?

The best way to start is by checking out our Galleries and finding some styles you like. Then it will be a matter of trying on every shape to see what suits your body shape. Be guided by bridal shop assistants – they usually know what they’re talking about. To get a good guide of what styles you should look out for read our article on the Best style for your shape.

Q2. Does my gown need to be made just for me?

This is what a couturier does and it ensures a one-off design just for you. But you may find the gown of your dreams in a retailer.

Q3. When should I start dress shopping?

At least 6 months prior to your big day. If you’re having your gown made then make an appointment as soon as possible as the good couturiers will have their books full well in advance.

Q4. What if I lose or gain weight?

Don’t panic. Your gown can be altered to fit you. Check with your couturier or retailer how close to the wedding date this can happen.

Q5. Who should I take shopping with me?

Take someone you can trust to give you an honest answer. Make sure you only take one or two people – your whole bridal party may give you conflicting advice!
