Corsage stationery

Floral stationery, while inherently romantic, needn’t be too frilly and ornate. Creating stationery in tones of white, cream and ivory on a similar coloured textured background, makes a beautiful elegant statement. Perhaps consider making a special handmade envelope to match the theme of your card. It’s the perfect finishing touch.
Materials
- selection of fabrics that differ in textures and pattern such as silk, taffeta, tulle, lace, organza, voile and satin.
- beads or buttons to decorate
- needle and thread, scissors and tacky craft glue
- card stock, textured paper, envelopes
- spray adhesive
- bone folder, cutting knife and board
How to create
- Spray glue textured paper on to card stock. Once dry cut paper 24cm wide x 17cm. On the inside mark the middle of the card and use the bone folder to create the fold line. Fold card in half.
- To make the flower cut fabrics into 9cm circles. You will need approximately eleven layers to make one flower - you can use the same fabric more than once.
- Place circles neatly on top of each other, making sure to spread colours and textures evenly throughout the pile.
- Pin in place and make several stitches through the centre to hold all layers together. Starting at the top cut the first layer to a circle approximately 2cm in diameter. Continue cutting through the layers making each a little larger than the previous (by approximately 5cm) to reveal all the layers. You shouldn’t need to cut the final layer.
Custom-made envelope
Making a handmade envelope is easy. Take a ready-made one that is slightly larger than your card and carefully take it apart to use as a template. Trace onto decorative paper. Cut out and use a bone folder to score along lines that are to be folded. Use a glue stick to assemble.
TIP: The size of the flower can be varied depending on the size of the card and envelope you select. It is best to decide on envelope size before making the card.
