Groom Mauro Scozzafava 35, Personal Trainer, Italian/Aussie
How you met
We meet in Melbourne we were managing a busy St Kilda Restaurant together. Had an amazing connection love for fitness, sport, music, Fine food & wine
The proposal
We had just got back to Sydney after one of our winery weekends away in Tasmania. Decided to stay an extra night at the rocks before heading back to Wollongong. Mauro got down on both knees underneath the Opera House overlooking the light up Harbour Bridge. The Sydney light show was on the opera house was all lit up with different colours. Was so beautiful he was acting so strange but he was the cutest ever.
Planning the wedding
Planning the wedding was a little stressful as all my family and bridesmaids were in New Zealand but someone who made things a lot easier was Celebrity Stylist, Designer and friend Donny Galella . He was amazing helped me match everything together and give us the modern crisp clean different feel to our wedding. He helped us create a wedding that was who we were.
The wedding dress
My dress was Donny Galella and Daniel Avakian Team effort. It was Grecian inspired Couture gown made from cream Italian suiting twill a lovely heavy fabric to give the draping effect. I have quite an athletic body not much of a waist but they managed to crate curves I felt stunning in it.
The bridesmaid’s attire
Again Daniel Avakian & Donny Galella creations. All my girls were different shapes and I wanted them to feel comfortable and gorgeous. So we spent a day in Myer trying on style that they preferred and put components of those into their dresses. The girl’s dresses were all different designs made from cocoa silk satin and silk georgette.
The groom’s attire
Mauro wore a lovely Messini slim line blue grey suit with a very slight pinstripe to complement his athletic body. He had a light grey fitted shirt with a slim tie He looked divine!
The wedding theme
Colours were vibrant grape green and Cocoa latte.
The theme was modern clean crisp.
The wedding cake
Made by Faye Cahill. Hand painted 2-tier square cake with the invites design sprawled across the front. Top layer Choc with white choc gnache
Bottom layer Almond with mocha gnache.
The wedding flowers
Leah Mitchell Florist. Green Singapore orchids for the brides maids and for myself I had Green and cream calla lilies with Singapore orchids.

Also
- We wanted our wedding to be different and fun and up beat. We had the speeches in sections throughout the night so guests didn’t get bored. Mauro was the dj at the end and played some of our fav tracks. Mauro is a Dj and we love dance music.
- Mauro’s of Italian background. We wanted to have a wedding that represented the two of us, but that also pleased his family. So Mauro's Uncle, who is a very talented musician, played some Italian songs (for the family) and also some modern songs for the other guests. It was fantastic. Later in the night, Mauro's Decks were set up and he played a set, which got everyone up dancing.
- We chose to have our wedding in a winery to represent us. We hired a bus for our guests as the reception was an hour away from Wollongong. We had our Ceremony on site at the beautiful winery and to keep our guests entertained while we went off for an hour to do the professional photos we had a three piece jazz band; canapés and wine were flowing in the afternoon sun.
- We had the most amazing day we want to do it all over again.
- The only advice I would give is the bride is always be late. I didn’t really know that tradition, so it wasn’t in our timeline (I love to be on time). Be sure to make time for lateness and extend the day! Enjoy
